Chris Gordon of Old Snydale aged 73 passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, 15th May, 2025. The husband of Carol, a devoted and loving dad to Kim with her husband Chris, and Katie with her fiancé Ross, cherished and adored grandad to Harriet and Olivia, a very dear brother to Madeline, and a dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many people, especially within the pigeon racing community.

A funeral service will be held at St. John’s RC Church on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Normanton Lower Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations for a pigeon trophy in Chris’s memory, to be awarded to one of his beloved pigeon clubs. A donation box will be available at the back of the church.

Following the service, a funeral buffet will be held at Kings Croft Hotel, Pontefract. The family invites attendees to share a written message or humorous story about Chris, which can be placed in a pigeon basket at the back of the church for the family to read later.

If you are not featured in the BHW please send in your results, write ups and photos as we want to feature all aspects of pigeon racing not just nationals and specialist clubs.

We are looking for all kind of articles but make them current we want to show the sport as it is now but still tipping a cap to the past.

The British Homing Workd Welshpool offices will close today at 11:30am.

We will open as normal at 9am on Monday 16th December.

It’s Friday and the British Homing World landed in shops across the UK overnight.

This is week 3 of it being available on the shelves and we have already had reports of people buying it this morning.

We would love you to share where you have been able to buy it, and also where you expected it but it was not there. We are rolling out this new way of buying the BHW but there will be little snags which we need to know about to fix.

If it is not on show please ask at the counter as they will be able to order more in or get them in for the following week.

Newsagents need to know the demand is there which from reports so far, it is.
