For over 20 years, we’ve been delivering exceptional DJ and discotheque services across London, Kent, Surrey, and Essex. The London DJ was born out of my lifelong passion for music and production, which began in radio during the late 1990s. My journey quickly transitioned to performing at some of the South East’s most iconic nightspots before evolving into a focus on weddings and corporate events. Fourteen years ago, I recognized a glaring gap in the market for truly high-quality entertainment. Since then, The London DJ has had the privilege of performing at over 5,000 events in stunning venues such as the Natural History Museum in London (including the Champions League After Party for Manchester United!) to breathtaking country manors throughout Kent and Surrey. Our work has even been featured in renowned publications like Hello, OK! Magazine, Kentish Weddings, Kent Bride, and Brides Magazine. Recognized by Industry and Media

In 2015 and 2016, we were proud to be the official DJ for Channel 4’s hit show Married at First Sight, showcasing our ability to deliver outstanding entertainment to a national audience. What a weekend… 🎧

After a busy few days behind the decks at some amazing weddings, parties and events, I’m finally enjoying a chilled Sunday – and taking a moment to reflect on just how incredible this job really is.

This weekend alone I’ve played at iconic London venues like The Ned, The Ivy Club, and The Shard, plus an absolutely stunning private celebration just outside Sevenoaks in Kent. Every event is different – but my approach is always the same:

Back in 2021, I was lucky enough to be involved in Rise of the Foot Soldier: Origins – a film that’s become a cult favourite and a huge part of the Essex and London scene.

That experience led to my involvement in the next chapter, Rise of the Foot Soldier: Vengeance, and now I’m proud to say I’ve also played a part in the upcoming Rise of the Foot Soldier: Ibiza, set to be released later this year.

Being part of this iconic British film series is something I’m genuinely proud of. It all ties into my journey through entertainment – from decades of DJing across London and Kent, to now seeing my name in the credits of a film franchise with serious legacy.

The London DJ isn’t just about weddings and packed dance floors (though there’s plenty of that too) – it’s about real moments, real music, and building a career around doing what I love.

Across London, Kent and the South East, the wedding industry is evolving – and fast. Over the past few years, there’s been a clear and deliberate move away from large-scale, overly structured weddings and a shift towards smaller, more meaningful celebrations.

And the hardest part? Many suppliers don’t speak up. DJs, photographers, florists – everyone’s afraid of being removed from the venue’s preferred supplier list. It’s created a culture of silence where couples lose out, and the venue stays untouchable.

But I think that’s starting to change. People are waking up to the idea that a wedding doesn’t need to be dictated by what’s always been done. The magic doesn’t come from the venue – it comes from the people. From the energy. From the music. From the moments.

And it’s those moments we specialise in.

Timing Is Everything: Why Your First Dance Shouldn't Happen Too Early

If there’s one topic we revisit time and time again, it’s this – timings matter on your wedding day, especially when it comes to your first dance.

We’ve DJ’d hundreds of weddings across London, Kent and the South East, and one thing we’ve consistently seen is couples being encouraged to schedule their first dance far too early. And more often than not, it’s under the advice of photographers.

Now, let’s be honest – we understand it. Your photographer has likely been on their feet since mid-morning, capturing everything from the bridal prep to the confetti shot. By the time the evening rolls around, they’re exhausted. But tired or not, advising couples to do their first dance at 7.00 or 7.30pm isn’t just premature – it can completely ruin the flow of the evening.

Your first dance isn’t just “the first song of the night” – it’s your first moment together on the dance floor as a married couple. It’s meant to feel special, meaningful, and surrounded by a lively atmosphere. That atmosphere doesn’t happen at 7.30pm – the bar isn’t buzzing, your guests are still finishing dessert, and the evening vibe simply hasn’t landed yet.

As we often say to brides and grooms: if you go out on a Saturday night, do you start dancing at 7.30? Of course not. So why would your wedding be any different?

Our Advice? Trust the Entertainers
We always recommend saving your first dance until at least 8.30pm, especially during the summer months when it’s still light well into the evening. In many cases, even 8.30 is too early. Pushing it back allows time for the evening guests to arrive, the lights to dim, the drinks to flow and the mood to settle into celebration mode.

Put simply: don’t let someone else’s schedule dictate one of the most memorable moments of your day.
