One last post to end our week of celebrating Reading Stars Achieve Phonics winning the ERA for “Special Education Resource/Equipment”:

It’s official. Reading Stars Achieve Phonics has won “Special Education Resource or Equipment” at the ERAs!!!

The judges said:

‘Reading Stars Achieve Phonics is a highly deserving winner for its innovative approach to supporting struggling and SEND readers.
Designed specifically for older learners, the programme combines fully decodable phonics texts with engaging, age-appropriate stories that rebuild confidence and motivation in students who may have previously disengaged from reading.
With dyslexia-friendly design features and strong evidence of improved motivation, literacy outcomes and reduced teacher workload.”

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the series, and of course the many schools who shared the fantastic results they’re getting with this catch-up reading programme for KS2/KS3.

Ours was made very special by an Unlocking Letters and Sounds teacher - who wanted to pay tribute to her fav Reading Stars Phonics book.

She has impeccable taste. (Unlike the real-life raccoons in that book😂)

As we near the end of the last day of term here in the UK, we want to wish everyone a merry Christmas from all the staff at Ransom.

2025 has seen some challenges (here’s to the price of paper not going up any more in 2026!) but far more highs. We’ve picked up awards for our work, developed incredible new products, and received countless phone calls from teachers who've said one of their struggling/reluctant readers has read one of our books - it's the first book the student has ever read, and they’ve now moved onto others in the series… And are enjoying them! They cannot believe this change.

Playing a part in those moments is a privilege - and we look forward to many more in 2026🎄
