🤘Today is International Day of Sign Languages and the 2026 theme is clear and powerful: Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights 🌎

This isn't just about awareness—it’s a direct call to action. Across the globe, over 70 million Deaf individuals rely on more than 300 unique sign languages to communicate, learn, and thrive. Yet full access to everyday life through national sign languages is still not a reality for everyone.

2026 is also a massive milestone year, marking:

👉 75 years since the founding of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD)
👉 20 years since the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)Let’s stand with the global Deaf community to recognise, protect, and promote their linguistic identity. True inclusion means ensuring communication is never a barrier.

Our friends at A Place for Everyone CIC have just launched a survey and would love your help. They want to understand what it is really like for people to live, work and take part in their communities—including what helps people feel included, what gets in the way and what could be.

You don’t need to be disabled or have a particular accessibility need to complete it. We want to hear from everyone because people can experience the same places very differently.

The survey is anonymous and confidential and takes around 10–15 minutes. What people tell us will help shape the projects, resources and practical work A Place for Everyone develops.

Now this is a cracking story! Over 7000 eggs are used to make this huge omelette.

Every year at this giant omlette festival in Belgium, volunteers cook this eggcellent feast for everyone to eat.
