📍 Temple Newsam

Underneath Temple Newsam offers a glimpse into the older darker side of the house, the underground spaces were part of the busy world that kept the house running. With servants, cooks and other staff working behind the scenes. There was once even a bakery and a brewhouse.

Temple Newsam is reputedly stated as being one of the most haunted house’s in Leeds, Pheobe Grey a young maid who was murdered in the house in 1704, her body is said to have been dragged down the stairs and thrown into a well in the cellars.

Some people say you can still hear her screams in the cellar and on the staircase, others say you can hear thumping noises, as though her body is being dragged down the stairs…

Doors opening and closing by themselves, the feeling of being touched and unexplained bangs also occur here…

📍St James Cemetery

The history?

St James Cemetery, opened in 1829 after a former sandstone quarry was transformed into a dramatic underground-style burial ground. Around 57,839 people were eventually buried here before the final burial in 1936.

The cemetery opened just before Liverpool was struck by its first major cholera outbreak in 1832,
As the disease and poverty claimed thousands of lives, the cemetery became the final resting place for alot of people.

The poorest victims were often buried in deep communal pits,with coffins stacked one on top of the other, with only a layer of dirt to seperate. Some pits could contain more than 30 coffins. While the wealthy were buried in tombs…

The haunted stories? Lets get into it…👻

William Husskison, who was killed by Stephenson’s rocket in the 1830’s, people have said to see a limping figure in a top hat and long coat near his mausoleum, with others saying they could hear footsteps approaching before suddenly stopping…👻

There are numerous reports of dark shadowly figures moving between the grave stones, some say they have spotted a shadow figure of a victorian woman, wandering around a tomb that was disturbed decades ago…👻

The christmas vampire, is a story that dates back from a woman in the 1970’s, it is claimed that while she was walking her dog through the cemetery, she reportedly saw a strange mist forming into a man before she fled the cemetery, she returned days later with friends and is said to have spotted a tall strangely dressed man wearing a top hat, a long cape & smelling of damp leaf mould…👻

📍 Druids Temple, Masham

Perched on a remote hillside near Masham in North Yorkshire, the Druids Temple is a mysterious stone monument built in the early 1820s by local landowner William Danby.

The temple is also linked to the famous tale of a hermit who Danby reportedly challenged to live in solitude on the estate for seven years in exchange for a reward. According to local legend, the hermit abandoned his post shortly before completing the challenge, supposedly the isolation drove him mad, forfeiting his prize.

People say you can often see the spirit of the Hermit wandering around the back of the temple towards the cave…

Over the years, the temple’s isolated setting and unusual history have given rise to darker folklore…

Rumours persist that ancient Druid sacrifices and devil worship once took place among the stones, with tales of blood rituals and ceremonial offerings whispered through generations…

Visitors have long reported strange experiences, including shadowy figures moving between the stones, unexplained whispers, and an eerie feeling of being watched after dark.

When night falls, the remote woodland setting amplifies unsettling sounds. Visitors report disembodied whispers, sudden drops in temperature, snaps of branches, and the chilling sound of phantom chanting carried on the wind…
