Laboratory Specialist Services doubles its manufacturing capacity following the installation of a new HOMAG DRILLTEQ V-310, a major step forward for one of the UK’s leading laboratory furniture and fume cupboard specialists.

With demand rising across industrial, research, pharmaceutical and educational sectors, LSS has continued modernising its production facility.

Brian Daly, Production Manager at LSS, describes the DRILLTEQ V-310 as nothing short of transformational: “We wanted to run both product lines at the same time to effectively double our capacity. We needed a brand new beast of a machine.” After a hands-on demonstration at HOMAG UK’s Castle Donington showroom, Brian was convinced: “All roads lead to HOMAG, the V-310 is an absolute powerhouse.”

The installation was delivered in partnership with AWMS Ltd, HOMAG’s long-standing Scottish agent. Brian praised the team - Robert Herron, Kenny Dickson, AWMS Andrew Carson and John Small - for a seamless process and rapid, high-quality training: “It was probably the easiest installation I’ve had in my career.”

Now fully operational, the impact is immediate. LSS can produce lab furniture and worktops simultaneously, take on significantly larger contracts, and expects the investment to pay for itself within 12 months.

Donaldson Door Systems unlocks new capacity with JJ Smith Woodworking Machinery Ltd automation.

To meet growing demand and improve efficiency, Donaldson Door Systems invested in a fully automated Essepigi door and frame line supplied by JJ Smith — delivering a game-changing boost in productivity and safety.

Before automation, the manufacturer was running three shifts a day to keep up with orders. Now, with robotic handling and integrated ironmongery fitting, each door can be processed in just one minute, transforming throughput and reducing manual handling.
