I’ll be doing way MORE boundary setting...

and a whole lot less late night laptop-ing over the coming weeks, because the summer holidays are almost here🏖️

Yep, the juggle is about to get even realer for so many of us!

And here’s the thing: work-life balance isn’t just a 'nice to have' anymore, it’s essential if you want your business (and your sanity!) to survive.

We didn’t start our businesses to work 24/7, miss school sports days, or reply to emails at 10pm while shoving cold pasta in our mouths - right?!

So I’m doubling down on protecting my time, creating space for actual LIFE and setting non-negotiable boundaries...so that I can show up better for my clients, and my family 🩷

Want to try this for yourself ➡️ start by setting just one small boundary this week. Maybe it’s a no work evening, a phone free afternoon, or finally sticking to that 4pm finish time. Then actually honour it. You’ll be surprised how freeing it feels!

A hard lesson…but a necessary one!

The client came via a referral, someone who seemed great on paper…BUT very quickly, things felt off!

They had a labour intensive process that was already unrealistic in terms of time. Yet they expected me to somehow do it faster, because I was the ‘expert.’

➡️They didn’t want systems
➡️They didn’t want to change the way they worked
➡️They just wanted me to rush through it… even if that meant making mistakes

I pride myself on quality, accuracy and attention to detail, not cutting corners! I knew I couldn’t deliver the level of work I was proud of under those conditions.

So I politely ended the working relationship.

It was scary at the time, I won’t lie, but it was 100% the right decision.

Here’s what I took away from the experience:

💫 Not every referral is the right fit
💫 Clear expectations and boundaries are EVERYTHING
💫 Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should
💫 Walking away isn’t failure, it’s self respect

Saying no to that client made space for the dream clients I love to work with - organised, respectful and genuinely ready to grow (with support…not stress)

Before I became a VA…

⇨ I was replying to emails during nap time
⇨ I was juggling nursery drop-offs with commuting
⇨ I was saying 'no' to opportunities because life made them impossible to say yes to

If you’d told me in 2015, holding my newborn baby, that I’d be running a fully booked business six years later, I’m not sure I’d have believed you 🤯

But here’s how it happened:

☆ In 2016 I was made redundant from my corporate role after 14 years
★ In 2018 I became a single parent
☆ In 2019 I turned down my dream job - not because I didn’t want it, but because childcare logistics made it impossible
★ Then in 2020 lockdown changed everything…

I started working from home, rediscovered my confidence (physically AND emotionally 💪🏼) and finally saw what was possible when work fits around life…not the other way round!

That’s when Virtually Assisting You was born.

What started as a side hustle in 2021 became a fully booked VA and social media support business in just a few months.

Now? I support other business owners who are right where I was:
• Feeling stretched thin
• Trying to do it all
• Ready to grow, but unsure how to let go

I'm not being dramatic, but…

My recent experience with a chaotic week reminded me of something important: having the right support system makes all the difference 🤩

Hello coffee fuelled admin spring cleaning and upskilling!

I’ve been diving into META Ads training and tackling my own admin backlog.

Trust me, without the tech and tools I use every day, it would’ve been overwhelming...and I’d probably have swapped the coffee for wine 😅
