I see these weekend photo dumps people do, well here’s my two week review of a 50/50 co-parent who loves the quiet life & a coffee or two ☕️🥐
• Burra Bristol giving all the lunch feels
and coffee ☕️
• The teenage taxi service 🚕
• Lift selfies & hanging around with my Mum
• Spent a lot of time at the gym, legless rope climb complete ✅
• Park fit checks - is it cold is it warm, am I confused yes 🙌
• All things ponies & horses & rosettes of course 🏵️
• A very chilly drum band quickly followed by taste testing the new salt & malt
• & if you didn’t see the dog got stuck under the decking

Did you know it’s International Day of Happiness?

But did you also know the word “happiness”is derived from the old Norse word “happ” meaning luck or chance.
Happiness isn’t a permanent state we should be striving for like social media would have us believe, it’s moments of joy to be embraced whilst we go about living our day-to-day lives.

So here’s a few moments that made me happy today:

1. Brought out my Aunty Andrea’s bag for the summer & forgot how cute it is.
2. Sunny lunchtime strolls thru my local park 🌳
3. When Vinted comes thru with the perfect white shirt.
4. My dogs 🐶
5. Coffee in the garden in my new cup 🇲🇦
6. Finally figuring out the symbols on my dishwasher (who knew the curvy arrows are an S for salt?)
7. Still eating my meal prep from Sunday

What has brought you a moment or two of happiness today 🧡🥐

So many of you said to take a cooking class in Marrakesh and 100% this was a trip highlight.

Yassine was such a friendly host, from choosing the ingredients in his local shops, talking in multiple languages and making us feel so welcome in his home. Not to mention the food was some of the best we ate, & finishing off with the orange blossom strawberries 🍓

I would without doubt do this again and recommend a cooking class to anyone going such a lovely way to connect with the locals in their home & a chance to meet other travellers and find out about their journey.

The feeling of the warm sun on your face 🌤️

This is your reminder that life is fleeting, the sun & the moon keep moving regardless, seasons come & go, life death & taxes are inevitable & that first coffee in the morning always hits different.

In 30 days the sun will set at 6pm
In 45 days the sun will set at 7pm

And one day I’ll print some photos again, but til then I’ll stick them on my squares for you to scroll thru & I hope you’ll do the same.

Love & croissants 🧡🥐

Wow, this week was not on my bingo card for January, but challenges have to be faced head on, and there’s no one else to help clean-up my mistakes & whoa was this a biggie.

Monday: Gave the dog a ‘natural’ chew, she sucked it up so fast it got lodged in her intestine

Tuesday: spent 24 hrs not realising what was wrong & worrying about her being so lethargic

Wednesday: 5am couldn’t take the worry, comforted her til the vets opened, by midday she’d had major stomach surgery to remove the treat

Thursday: She’s home & recovering well - with all the meds on-board she’s doing better than me ❤️‍🩹

Friday: £2500 vet bill has to go on my credit card & I’ve barely left the flat so got dressed & got out (to pick up my vinted parcels of course)

Saturday: Needed to get outside, parkrun with the girl (it was cancelled but we ran anyway)
Err should swans be in the sea? 🦢

Sunday: The girl convinced me to do a short run, just so we could pick-up a take-away roast dinner from it’s epic & last me at least two days - no dinner pic as we scoffed it in minutes 😋

I can cry over a broken cup, but seem to take the tough challenges in my stride, if this is you I see you, it doesn’t make them easier it just means you’ve normalised dealing with the big stuff.
Know you’re strong but know you’re seen 🥰🧡

Good & Proper our story..

Good & Proper started out as Coco Browns over 14 years ago, recently we have gone through a period of change which included opening a second unit inside Bristol Temple Meads station , this was a true work of love!

It took 18 months to finally open our doors on December 17th 2018 and we haven’t looked back since. In January 2020 I decided it was time to merge the two businesses and create one brand under one roof and so began Good & Proper Weston. A cafe where you can find home cooked fresh food made from simple ingredients but with all the love you would expect from an indi cafe. Try our Whole Hog brekkie with everything bar the black pudding you won’t leave feeling hungry. We encourage plant based eating and offer a selection of Buddha bowls full of fresh bright rainbow ingredients nourishing your gut health.

We source our food from local suppliers where possible this is super important to me and often the best slice of cake you can buy is right on your doorstep, to compliment the food Extract coffee from Bristol are our go-to for our daily caffeine intake as is Canton Tea who do a stunning selection of herbal teas sitting alongside the hot warming breakfast cuppa.

We look forward to welcoming you through our doors and when the sun shines take a seat in our outdoor area and just watch the world go by with a cold glass of Wiper & True pale ale or thatchers cider whatever your choice we can’t wait to say hi!
