Elysian Singers - Wetherby A 30-strong mixed voice choir, singing mostly A Capella sacred and secular repertoire. Available fo We have performed in many local churches and in Festivals.

The Elysian Singers were formed in Wetherby, West Yorkshire in 1974. Initially a 5 voice madrigal group, we have grown to our present 30 (approx) voices, and sing a variety of mainly unaccompanied music. We seek to perform to a high standard, and we maintain thsi standard through regular rehearsal and the requirement for new members to pass a simple audition. Since 1998, our Musical Director has b

een Jonathon Power, a freelance musician and a singer with international touring choir, 'Sine Nomine'. Over the years, we have provided outreach services to local groups, primary and secondary schools. In 2011 we won our class at the Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama. Our CD, 'In Harmony' has been featured on Radio 3 and local radio. We have also performed on local television. Elysian singers is a member of 'Making Music', the National Federation of Music Societies. We are reg. charity 109774.

Please join us for our next concert on 22nd April in St Mary's Church Boston Spa. We'll be singing with the international touring choir Sine Nomine. The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Both choirs sing mainly unaccompanied small-choir music, and the varied programme will have music from the 16th century to the present day, with short sacred and secular pieces along with more ‘popular’ arrangements.

Sine Nomine’s musical director is Susan Hollingworth BEM. They perform only three concerts a year in this country so this is a rare opportunity to hear this outstanding choir. She will be sharing conducting duties with the Elysians’ own MD, Jonathan Power.

Tickets are £12 each and are available at the door, from members of the Elysian Singers, or from St Mary's Parish Office.
