The most critical piece of equipment on a film set doesn't require a lens ☕

Yesterday was International Tea Day. While the UK as a whole gets through a massive 100 million cups of tea every single day, we are fairly certain the British film and video production industry accounts for a disproportionate amount of that data.

If you’ve ever been on a Reel Film set, you’ll know the truth:

Behind every beautifully framed corporate video, slick event recap, or cinematic brand documentary is an absolute mountain of tea.

Because in production, a cup of tea isn't just a beverage - it’s a strategic asset.

🎬 A quick brew gives the crew that crucial 2-minute strategic pause.
🎬 It’s the Client Icebreaker: Putting a non-actor (like a CEO or a case-study interviewee) in front of bright studio lights and a 4K camera can be incredibly daunting. Handing a nervous person or CEO in front of camera? A warm tea instantly lowers the stakes and relaxes the room.
🎬 Tea keeps the focus and creativity flowing in the edit.

Great video marketing requires meticulous planning, technical skill, and a lot of passion. But most importantly, it requires a crew that is well-fueled and ready to deliver.

With a 4am call time yesterday, plenty of these were consumed (P.S. we appreciate this is a tea in a coffee brand takeaway cup 😂).

Happy Reel Film Day! 🎬

We never knew this, but the 5th of March each year is officially, "Reel Film Day". It is a day dedicated to the preservation of 35mm film and the "whirring reels" of the silver screen. It’s a massive nod to the history and artistry of filmmaking. Before digital sensors and cloud uploads, there was the magic of physical film and the tactile craft of the edit.

At Reel Film, we’re constantly looking at the future of video marketing and high-speed digital delivery. But today is a vital reminder to respect the craft that started it all:

👉 Intentionality: Every frame cost money, so every second had to matter.
👉 Story over Specs: The gear changes, but the emotional hook is timeless.
👉 Authenticity: There’s a "soul" in film grain that digital is still trying to replicate.

P.S. We now officially claiming there is a day named after us in the calendar. Mark your 2027 diaries now for the party 🗓️😂
