Rex and Henry share mummy’s breakfast 🥣🥹

Yesterday, for the first time in our lives, a lovely early morning walk with Henry and Rex turned into one of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had.

A cat was hiding underneath a parked car and suddenly ran out from behind Rex, attacking him without warning. The cat then continued hissing and following us down the street until I picked Rex up and managed to scare it away.

Poor Rex was howling and barking, and it was horrible to witness. Thankfully, we checked him over thoroughly when we got home and he wasn’t injured. He was soon enjoying his favourite “cream tea”, which is a bowl of light whipped cream topped with a few blueberries, and was back to his usual happy self.

What makes it even more surprising is that Rex has never shown any fear of cats, nor has he ever chased or bothered them. The lovely lady who regularly looks after him has a cat, and they’ve always been absolutely fine together. I’m really hoping this experience doesn’t affect his confidence around cats in the future.

It was such a shock to our morning, and it’s certainly made me more cautious. We’ll definitely be avoiding that side of the road from now on, and I’ll be making local dog owners aware too. I’d hate for another dog to have the same experience, or worse, be injured.

A very frightening start to the day, but thankfully our brave boy is absolutely fine.
