::WHITBY // 2nd November :: We are delighted to be performing a show in aid of The People’s Fridge - Whitby Community Fridge - a free food project based at Flowergate Hall - on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd November. The event is pay-as-you-feel, will run from 2-5pm, and we shall be playing songs from our new album “Burn Me Once”….

The aim of The People’s Fridge - Whitby Community Fridge is to fight food waste and support local people by collecting leftover food from businesses, then making it available to local residents and community groups; this includes individuals with limited access to affordable fresh and nutritious food.

Your Monolith:The Lighthouse Headliners! Social Youth Cult launching their debut album.
They will play two sets:
Set 1. The Lighthouse in full for the first time anywhere.
Set 2. Selected tunes from their repertoire and some covers that show their inspiration, with a couple of surprises. (I'm sure Black Lipstick will be in there somewhere) 🖤💄

“We’re Social Youth Cult, a Newcastle-based post-punk band. Our music is cold and dark with an experimental twist. We originally had a softer sound, releasing some darkwave-y tracks last year, but are headed in a heavier, Bauhaus-esque direction with our new material. As a collective, we’re mainly inspired by the DIY ethos of late 70s/early 80s post-punk – the sort of mindset that came about in response to a homogenised musical landscape. People were dying for something that sounded like nothing they’d heard before, leading to the seminal music of bands like Joy Division, Magazine, Gang of Four and many great others. "
