Keswick GC Handicap League Champions 2025
The 1st leg took place at Keswick Golf Club at the beginning of September with the return 2nd leg at Kendal Golf Club this weekend.
Considering the deluge of rain the week before the sun shone and it was a glorious day with the course in good condition.

So close but not quite for Workington Golf Club today. 3 shots was the difference over the 2 rounds.
Rotherham Golf Club managed to keep in front of the 4 chasing teams to become EG Champion Club winners today. The Workington lads worked hard to try to close the gap but somedays the putts just don't drop.
Another great weekend of golf for Cumbria and Workington.
Well done Team Workington:-
Will Bowe, Richard Mewse & Jack Hunter always a pleasure to support and watch. Better luck next year!!😉👍

A fab end to the 1st round for Workington Golf Club in the England Golf Champion Club Competition at Oaks Golf Club.
Jack Hunter posted a marvellous score of 3under par (69) in wet miserable conditions to help give the Workington trio a great chance of winning the title tomorrow.
We hope the continous rain of today moves on and William Bowe, Jack Hunter & Richard Mewse can give Rotherham a good run for the title.
Good luck for tomorrow guys. 💪🏆

Best of luck to the Workington lads this weekend playing in the EG Champion Club Competition at Oaks Golf Club Yorkshire.
This is the 2nd consecutive year for Workington Golf Club representing CUGC at this event, last year they played Stanton-on-the-Wolds.
The 3 man team (Will Bowe, Jack Hunter and Richard Mewse) won their way to the National final this year by winning the Interclub Strokeplay at Silloth on Solway Golf Club in July.
Play well all!!!

Waters Family Create Carlisle Golf Club History

Carlisle Golf Club has witnessed a remarkable piece of history this season as three members of the same family swept the club’s major championships — an achievement never seen before.

Greg Waters captured the Seniors Club Championship, adding to his outstanding record of 14 Men’s Club Championship victories and now three Seniors titles since becoming eligible. His son, Kieran Waters, continued the family tradition by winning the Men’s Club Championship for the third time, while Kieran’s wife, Nicola Waters, triumphed in the Ladies’ Club Championship.

Together, the trio claimed all three of Carlisle Golf Club’s premier titles, making it a unique family treble that will be remembered for years to come.

The Waters family already have a proud record of championship success at Carlisle, and this year’s clean sweep adds another extraordinary chapter to their golfing story. Nicola has previously lifted the Ladies’ title under her maiden name, but this was her first as a Waters — joking in her winners’ speech that she would now be “accepted into the family.”

Congratulations and very well done Liam.Keep up the good work!!

A busy weekend for Cumbria.
The 2025 Scratch League final was held on Sunday at Brampton Golf Club between Furness A & Brampton A.
The 4 matches resulted in a draw.
Extra holes needed to be played between Rob Spence of Furness golf club and Lee Sturrock of Brampton GC.
Rob & Lee played the head to head 2 extra holes with Rob winning the match to give Furness the 2025 title.
Furness now hold both Scratch League 2025 titles along with the Interclub Matchplay 2025 title.
Congratulations to Furness GC on your win with commiserations to Brampton.
Thanks to BGC for hosting the day and the loan of the course, which by the way, was in immaculate condition.
Our thanks must also go to Tim Weir and his team for the fab food in the clubhouse.
