Another Junior Boys assessment day done thanks to Silloth on Solway Golf Club and Gary Vickers Club PGA Pro.
The weather turned halfway through the session and it ended up becoming bitterly cold and wet for the young golfers.
It was great to see the lads enthusiasm and determination today and we hope to see many of you all in the near future.

On the back of our own junior development programme we have exciting news regarding Cumbria Boys and Girls golf.
Aidan Blythe of Brampton GC, Bradley Quayle of Seascale GC and Rebecca Wildey of Eden GC have all been selected to be part of England Golf's North Region Boys and Girls Development Squads.
Congratulations to you all, we hope this is the start of bigger and better things.

Cumbria Junior Development Programme 2026

After two highly successful Talent ID sessions at Penrith Golf Hub & Carlisle Golf Club, today we witnessed another great session at Carus Green Golf Club with Andrew Waple Golf.
Many thanks to all the young lads who took time to come along to the assessment today and also Andrew Waple for his valued knowledge and time.

Seascale GC celebrated the Cumbria Master Golfer double at their club prizegiving this evening.
Craig Morrow taking the Mens title and Bradley Quayle securing the 1st ever Junior Master Golfer Trophy.
It was great to see Eric Gullickson honoured for his contribution, influences and achievements at Seascale with a life membership.
2 Master Golfers, 1 County Captain and 1 Champion of Club Champions!!
What a year, well done Seascale Golf Club!!

Boys who are members of a Cumbrian club aged 10 -15, with a handicap index of 24 or less, have been invited to the assessment days. If your child meets this criteria and has not received an invite please contact your club or email:-

The 2nd of the County boys assessment days was today at Carlisle Golf Club with Nicky Tibbetts Golf.
Unfortunately Silloth on Solway Golf Club had to postpone their assessment day due to the roads being flooded but have rescheduled for 7th December.
A few snaps of the promising talent in and around the Carlisle area today which we hope we can tap into for the future.
Well done all and thanks for making the commitment today. Our thanks to Nicky for his invaluable time and efforts too.
Hopefully we will see a few more new boys at Carus Green Golf Club, Bentham Golf Course, and Ulverston Golf Club on their assessment days.
If you know of any potential Rory McIlroys who have been bitten by the Golf bug and would love the chance to better themselves, get in touch with the clubs above to register their interest in the assessment days.We would love to see if that passion and ambition can be nutured and given the chance to grow into something special.

Many thanks to Penrith Golf Hub and especially Andrew Pickering for starting off the Cumbria Junior boys assessment programme today.
The talent and natural ability viewed today is potentially a springboard for a few of these young lads into the Boys & Mens County squads.
Silloth on Solway Golf Club and Carlisle Golf Club start tomorrow 11am-2pm with Carus Green Golf Club Wednesday 6-8pm/Saturday 29th November 10am-12pm. Bentham Golf Course Saturday 29th November 12pm - 4pm with Ulverston Golf Club on the 7th December.

CUMBRIA JUNIOR GOLF DEVELOPMENT. PROGRAMME

We are excited to launch our new Cumbria Junior Golf Development Programme. Assessment sessions at each of our 6 designated 'Junior Hubs' across the County starts this weekend.
The Juniors selected from the assessments will be invited to form our new development squad. They will receive coaching and guidance from a PGA Professional at regular sessions beginning in the new year.
It is hoped that many of the squad will progress into our Junior team and beyond.
Boys who are members of a Cumbrian club aged between 10-15 with a handicap index of 24 or less have been invited to the assessment days.

Keswick GC Handicap League Champions 2025
The 1st leg took place at Keswick Golf Club at the beginning of September with the return 2nd leg at Kendal Golf Club this weekend.
Considering the deluge of rain the week before the sun shone and it was a glorious day with the course in good condition.
We were welcomed and hosted by Kendal Captain Graham Hayton. Congratulations Keswick Golf Club with commiserations to Kendal.
