This week at Briscoe PR…

⭐️ On Friday, Kevin attended the 50th anniversary reunion of him joining Royal Hospital School in Ipswich. He took part in marching in divisions for their Remembrance Sunday service, inspected by Headmaster Irfan Latif.

⭐️ Kevin and Becca headed to Arena Offices for their Lunch and Learn event, where Kevin was invited as a guest speaker. He delivered a session on strategic PR goals and opportunities for 2026, helping businesses think ahead, align their communications plans and prepare for a fast-changing landscape.

⭐️ Harriet kicked off the first study day of her PRCA apprenticeship. She spent the day catching up with her tutor and starting to map out her study structure for the year ahead. She has already booked onto a lot of exciting online courses to help develop her PR skills!

⭐️ On Thursday, Kevin was in London for a members-only Network My Club event at Wembley Stadium connected by EE for the England v Serbia World Cup Qualifier. It was a great night for networking, reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new contacts in an iconic setting.

⭐️ Charlie and Bella visited Westlands Farm Shop in Wickham for their monthly catch-up. They were reviewing last month’s activity, discussing wins, insights and performance, and planning future content. These in-person sessions help us understand the heartbeat of our clients’ businesses and strengthen relationships.

⭐️ Meanwhile, Becca worked on two targeted email campaigns for Arena Offices - one for retention and one inviting new Lunch & Learn speakers. She has also been working closely with Sam from Daily Bread on SEO improvements and new pages for the Briscoe PR website.

⭐️ Charlie has been creating monthly reports for clients, refining a new rewards scheme for Ideal Collection, and preparing newsletters for hospitality and retail venues. The rewards scheme supports customer loyalty, and tailored newsletters help our hospitality and retail clients increase engagement, bookings and sales.

⭐️ Bella enjoyed a couple of days of annual leave and headed to London for yet another concert. This time she was at at the o2 Indigo to see ONEW!

This Week at Briscoe PR...

⭐ The Briscoe PR team had a photoshoot at Arena Offices’ Number 25 building, just down the road from BPR HQ! Just like our clients, we know the importance of maintaining a strong and cohesive brand presence online.

⭐ On Tuesday, Harriet headed to Boathouse Swanwick for a photoshoot with Executive Chef Matt Whitfield, capturing images for a news release about the venue’s new menu and commitment to using local ingredients.

⭐ Kevin and Bella attended the Hampshire Business Awards finalist drinks and networking event at The Wi******er Hotel and Spa. Events like these are a brilliant opportunity to connect with other local businesses and celebrate achievements across the region.

⭐ On Wednesday, Becca and Harriet were at Arena Offices’ Grosvenor House in Basingstoke for an Investment Breakfast event, where they captured photos and video for social media. Afterwards, the pair made the most of the co-working spaces at Grosvenor House, working remotely for the day.

⭐ Charlie has also been working remotely, but she has been based in the library in Portsmouth. She was focusing on creating an email marketing customer journey for Ideal Collection.

⭐ On Thursday, Bella and Harriet visited Boathouse Chichester Marina for another new menu photoshoot. In hospitality PR, striking imagery is what grabs attention, tells a story, and makes potential customers hungry to visit!

The short answer: it depends on your positioning and long-term goals.

Black Friday can drive quick sales, but it can also erode brand value, train customers to wait for discounts, and attract one-time bargain hunters rather than loyal customers. For premium brands especially, participating in deep discounting can damage the perception you've worked hard to build.

This week at Briscoe PR…

⭐️ At the end of last week Kevin was at Newbury Racecourse for the latest Network My Club race day networking event. Good food and good conversations, a flutter or two and some winnings to nearly, but not quite, break even on the day. Kevin had a good catch-up with fractional sales leader Chris Nash, Network My Club's Bradley Hatchett and Newbury Business Development Manager James Bazeley, among others. Fantastic photographs as always by the excellent Steven Phyall from Zooming Photography.

⭐️ Charlie and Bella were out and about a lot this week, visiting Ideal Collection’s Kimbridge Barn , The Bugle Hamble and White Horse Otterbourne for new menu photoshoots and content photoshoots. A busy few days capturing mouth-watering dishes and the atmosphere that makes each Ideal Collection venue unique.

⭐️ On Tuesday, Kevin grabbed lunch and a coffee at The Oaty Goat in Whiteley with fabulous Chartered Financial Planner Kaz Downing Financial Advisor to catch up on networking activities, discuss business opportunities and to chat. Kevin and Kaz are networking buddies through Bizpedia, which meant there were a lot of things to catch up on.

⭐️ Harriet visited the Tektraders office for a catch-up meeting and to film some video content. These face-to-face sessions are really important because they help bring creative ideas to life and strengthen client relationships.

⭐️ Becca headed over to Arena Offices' Grosvenor House for an internal event for an Arena client who is officially opening its penthouse office, capturing photos of the celebrations.

⭐️ Bella and Kevin formed a team of two to win the first Cash for Kids South Coast, West Sussex & Salisbury quiz hosted by Ali Cuthbert, Lisa Congdon and Duncan Chappell at Arena Offices' Lancaster Court in Fareham. Their knowledge of sport and music helped them to win!

⭐️ The whole team was busy moving office this week! As a treat afterwards, everyone enjoyed some tasty Domino’s pizza for lunch. A great way to celebrate the move and refuel after a busy morning of moving boxes, unpacking and organising the new space 🍕

Halloween has evolved from a simple trick-or-treat tradition into a billion-dollar opportunity, but the best brands understand that successful Halloween campaigns require more than a simple pumpkin or ghost 🎃

Our resident Halloween expert, Isabella, has compiled four of her favourite spooky campaigns from recent years:

🦇 Tourism Ireland, Home of Halloween - After originating in Ireland around 2,000 years ago as the festival of Samhain, nobody can compete with the title of the 'Home of Halloween'. The whole campaign felt less like advertising and more like cultural storytelling.

🕷️ IKEA, Monsters Not Included - This campaign was a great way to authentically show off products in a Halloween spirit without feeling forced or over the top.

🦇 Ring, Ghost Search - Ring gave people the chance to have fun with the paranormal while showcasing the product’s capabilities. Every submission was authentic content showing Ring devices in action across thousands of homes.

🕷️ Uber Eats, Don’t Run Out - The campaign made the brand feel essential rather than convenient. It positioned the service as the hero that saves Halloween, and created emotional resonance that goes far beyond typical advertising.

We think that these five campaigns represent the gold standard of Halloween marketing. They show us that when you combine authentic brand voice with entertainment value, you create something that no amount of treats can buy.
