Today marks the release of ‘Pale Light’ by Dimer Ynni Anthony Watkins 🎉🥳🍾🎊

This the culmination of a lot of hard work from Anthony and everybody at Punch Up, and we couldn’t be prouder. This is the first full-length album we have released on the label in the 5 years we’ve been doing this. There have been ups and there have been downs, but being able to help Anthony to realise his vision for this album makes all the difficult days worthwhile.

This is the most comprehensive release we have undertaken. The main album is mixed both in stereo and Dolby Atmos (available via Apple Music and Tidal). There is also a version of the album where we have done alternative edits of each track, condensing them to roughly half their length - perfect for radio plays, playlists and for those with shorter attention spans 😉 This version is called ‘Pale Light (Short Wavelength)’.

Thank you to everyone who has ever streamed or bought music we have released. We don’t take you for granted, and we are so grateful for your appreciation and attention. In a world that has never been fuller of various entertainments and distractions, every time somebody chooses to spend their precious time listening to anything we have put out means so, so much.

And thank you to Anthony for trusting us with his music. We’re so pleased to continue our relationship together, and we don’t take our responsibilities lightly. Hopefully we will continue for more time yet 🙂

NEW RELEASE THIS FRIDAY – “Carl Sagan (A House Of Dynamite…)” by drops Nov 1st. Two electronic music tracks sampling Carl Sagan’s iconic Pale Blue Dot speech.

Here’s the beautiful serendipity behind this surprise release…

I was at the cinema a couple weeks ago (daytime film = mildly decadent, I love it). Saw Big Bold Beautiful Journey with Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie. Great film. But here’s the thing: in the trailers, there was this extended section of Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot monologue over the A House Of Dynamite trailer.

Spookily relevant, because the album we’re releasing with Anthony on Nov 21st samples that exact same speech. In fact, the two tracks using it were the first songs he ever sent us.

I sat there in the theatre thinking “This is a sign. We have to put these songs out NOW.” Called Anthony, made artwork in Midjourney, packaged it up. Modern life is CRAZY.

The release features “Sagan” and “Blue Dot” – condensed “Short Wavelength” versions of the full album tracks. All the best parts, but more succinct.

Anyways, Anthony’s album ‘Pale Light’ drops Nov 21st.
