Meet us at Strategies in Satellite Ground Segment - Conference & Expo πŸ“‘

In two weeks we will be heading to London for SSGS 2025. A crucial part of satcom networks, the technology at the ground segment is key to resilient, reliable communications. We are looking forward to joining other industry stakeholders at the event and championing the latest premium, high-performance equipment in our portfolio.

Furthering our commitment to quality at the ground segment, our CTO Bob Potter will be joining the SIG & GSOA workshop hosted at the event which will focus on fostering industry collaboration for Flat Panel Antennas.

Meet with us at SSGS to learn how Global Invacom can elevate your ground segment 🀝

The global satcom transceiver market is experiencing significant growth. Indeed, according to Research Nester, in 2024, the market was worth US$32.35 billion but by 2037, this will be tipping $US105.26 billion. Part of this growth comes down to the fact that transceivers are growing in popularity, seen as a good alternative to the traditional Low Noise Block Downconverters (LNB) and Block Upconverters (BUC).

In this blog post, we discuss the key differences between transceivers and the traditional LNBs and BUCs, and ask whether they can bring positive benefits to the industry.

Introducing our XY Antenna!

Highlights:

πŸ“‘ Lightweight, modular, flexible, fast assembly.

πŸ“‘ On-the-move and on-the-pause connectivity.

πŸ“‘ Integrated system.

πŸ“‘ WGS and IATA compliant.

When you are out in the field and need high throughput, reliable connectivity fast, our XY antenna makes the ideal choice. Suitable for rapid response scenarios, the XY offers users the highest degree of modularity, flexibility and simple assembly for on-the -move and on-the-pause connectivity as well as multi-orbit capability across LEO, MEO and GEO and can switch between high frequency Ka- and Ku-bands and operated either indoor or outdoor.

The LEO era has thrust the subject of flat panel antennas (or FPAs) centre stage. These next generation antennas are viewed as the key to unlocking the potential of LEO networks given their ability to track satellites moving overhead, switching and steering beams with make before break technology. This allows a seamless transition as the beam moves from satellite to satellite and therefore an uninterrupted connectivity experience whether on the move, pause or static.

However, these antennas are not without their challenges and the lack of standardisation is a cause for concern. Ahead of the SIG and GSOA workshop on this topic at Strategies in Satellite Ground Segment, we discuss this topic in our latest blog post.

Global Skyware, part of the Global Invacom Group, Introduces Breakthrough Government Band Multi-orbit XRJ Transceiver

Optimised for the demanding government and defence market, the XRJ transceiver covers the full extended Ka-band frequency range in both receive and transmit. It boasts 25 Watts of power, (and also comes in 5w, 10w and 20w variants), the highest of any transceiver on the market and supports connectivity in GEO, MEO & LEO, enabling consistent communications for any application on land, sea or air.

The XRJ offers:
🟠 The highest power level of any transceiver (25W)
🟠 Support for GEO, MEO, and LEO orbits
🟠 Fully Mil-STD 164C compliant
🟠 Consistent communications performance across any orbit
🟠 A ruggedised IP-67 sealed enclosure for land and marine regulatory compliance and high throughput optimisation
🟠 Support for the latest L/S-Band modem intermediate frequency technologies with 10 MHz reference compatibility
🟠 Compatibility with full commercial Ka band, including four sub bands with four different power levels available
🟠 Integration of a Block Upconverter (BUC), Low-Noise Block Downconverter (LNB), Transmit Reject Filter (TRF), and polarizer/orthomode transducer (OMT) to handle both transmit and receive of satellite signals

Gordon Blaikie, Chief Executive Officer at Global Invacom Group commented: β€œThe government band XRJ represents a significant development in satcom capabilities for this community of mission critical users. This will ensure consistent, reliable performance across government satcom networks and will ensure that they are fully equipped for future technological developments.”

Satcom demand is on the up. ESA predicts that 100,000 satellites will be in orbit by 2030 and this is driving demand for transceivers, BUCs and LNBs. But when should you select a transceiver over discretes, and what are the differences between them?

In this blog, we weigh up the pros and cons of both, and hopefully give you some food for thought if and when it's a decision you need to make.
