(Once again sorry for the long post, bear with me.!.)
I've always enjoyed doing bits of Foley for different studio projects over the years, you let your imagination wander to create sounds from scratch.
Most of the Foley you hear on films goes unnoticed, footsteps, rain, background chatter from people in a pub, etc. etc......you have the luxury of two senses. What you hear is what you see...
However, if only listening to a song, you haven't got the visual....
The Foley has to be larger than life to portray the point.
During an album recording for Slack Alice a while ago,
the request was to have the striking of a match, to light a cigarette.
The only way to make it sound right was to strike two matches boxes together, back to back.
Anyway, enough of me!
