There has been a huge response to the rallying call for support by one of the town centre's most loved businesses ❤️

With footfall said to have "disappeared" since demolition work began on St Helens bus station and Hardshaw Centre, it has proven to be the toughest challenge yet for Taryn Byron and Lily's Victorian Tearooms

Although Lily's has become one of the town centre's most loved eateries, especially for its afternoon teas and homecooked meals at affordable prices, Taryn has expressed concerns that the business may not be able to survive due to the ongoing demolition and planned construction taking place outside of the Hall Street cafe

However, although Taryn's concerns remain, the business owner has been overwhelmed by the huge response to the Star's feature on the business - which has attracted hundreds of likes, comments, and shares, and has also seen an increase in walk-ins today 👏

Taryn said: "I’m lost for words and so emotional. I’d really like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support, generosity and kindness that I’ve received today following the article in the Star.

"It’s really really touched me. I appreciate you all so much. I’ve tried to have a chat with everyone and I can’t thank you all enough. It’s made me cry." 😍

Day 14 – Schools, cycles & a Wigan welcome! 🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️🎉

Today, Relay Your Way moves from Manchester to Wigan, with a jam-packed day of inclusive activity and community celebration.

We’ve now completed 1,020km, with 1,517km still to go — and here’s what’s ahead:

🏫 Kicking off the day with visits to three brilliant schools, inspiring young people to get moving
🚲 Then over to Leigh Sports Village for a fun and friendly inclusive cycling session
🎽 And we wrap up in Wigan with a joyful family fun run, hosted by Wigan Council, the Mayor of Wigan, and our fantastic friends at Happy Smiles Training

It’s a day full of energy, community and inclusion — everything Relay Your Way is about!
