You’re in the perfect spot — Comino’s Blue Lagoon is just a short hop from mainland Malta. Here’s how to get there from where you are in Naxxar:
You can of course modify your route . We came from Naxxar in this guide .
1. Ferry from Malta to Comino — cheapest & most direct
This is what most people do.
Step 1: Get to Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal
Ċirkewwa is at the very north tip of Malta. From Naxxar:
• By bus: Take bus 221 from Buġibba or 41, 42, x300 from Valletta. From Naxxar, grab bus 31/45/46 to Buġibba, then hop on 221 to Ċirkewwa. Total ∼45-60 min. Check Malta Public Transport’s Journey Planner or Google Maps.
• By taxi/Uber/Bolt/eCabs: ∼25-30 min from Naxxar, more expensive but fastest. Apps: Bolt, Uber, eCabs.
Step 2: Ferry to Blue Lagoon
• Operators: Comino Co-Op Ferries or Ebsons
• Cost: ~€14 roundtrip adult, €7 kids 5-12, under 5 free
• Time: ∼20 minutes each way
• Frequency: Departs every 30-60 min depending on time of day
• Tickets: Valid 3 months, board any time/date/departure point
The ferry drops you right at the Blue Lagoon dock. No swimming from the ferry though — it’s just transport.
2. Organized boat trip — swim stops + extras
If you want cave tours, swim stops, and snorkeling from the boat:
• Half-day/full-day private tours leave from Ċirkewwa, Marfa, Sliema, Buġibba
• More expensive than the ferry, but includes Crystal Lagoon, sea caves, and time to swim
• Book via GetYourGuide, Viator, or operators like Outdoor Explorers
3. From Gozo to Comino
If you’re island-hopping:
• Ferry from Mġarr Port Gozo: €10 roundtrip, 15 min, departs hourly
• Operators: Bella Comino Ferries & Ebsons
Tips for Comino/Blue Lagoon:
• Go early: Ferries start ∼8am. It gets packed by 10am in summer.
• No cars on Comino: It’s foot traffic only once you land.
• Bring: Water shoes — it’s rocky. Cash for kiosks. Sunscreen — zero shade.
• Last ferry back: Usually ∼6pm from Comino to Malta/Gozo. Don’t miss it.
