I had the privilege of covering the Sunset Walk for Forest Holme Hospice on Friday evening, capturing many videos including this short timelapse of everyone arriving, registering, and collecting their t-shirts before setting off.
It was one of those events that really sticks with you. A brilliant turnout, a great atmosphere, and a real sense of togetherness as people came to walk in celebration and remembrance of loved ones. The route itself couldn’t have been better, starting at Branksome Dene and heading along the coast towards Sandbanks, with that incredible view over Poole Harbour waiting at Evening Hill and then back to Branksome Dene.
What stood out most to me, though, was the people behind it all. The volunteers were everywhere, welcoming, organising, encouraging, and just generally making the whole evening run smoothly. You could see how much effort goes on behind the scenes.
And of course, it all comes back to the work Forest Holme Hospice does. Supporting patients and families through some of the toughest times imaginable, and doing it with care, dignity, and compassion. Events like this really show how much the community values what they do.
I was genuinely delighted to be asked to cover it and loved every minute. Even the weather behaved, which felt like a small miracle in itself.
A special evening for a very special cause.
