After debating if to do a post about my mental health and DJing I’ve decided to finally put my thoughts and feelings out there.
I’ve been lucky enough to pick up a few gigs this year from some great promoters and have been grateful for the opportunities.
What it’s made me realises tho is that my introvert personality and social anxiety have taken away the fun of DJing for me.
The build up to the gigs fill me with dread and it’s doesn’t allow me to enjoy the experience of DJing.
With social media etc now (wether true or not), I feel theres a pressure be a performer and that’s just not me. I’m not one to dance behind the decks etc, but what listeners will get instead is a journey with my music. For those who listen to my live sets, you’ll hear that my track choices on most part stay away from main stream and instead focus on playing a lot of music from Borderline label and some of favourite artists.
What’s does this mean going forward?
This isn’t a retirement post haha.
It just means that I’m less likely to DJ by myself in future but look to do Back2Back sets where possible. DJing along someone else would lift the pressure I’m feeling on the build up to a gig and and allow me to be able to enjoy the experience of actually DJing and playing some high quality trance music.
