Wishing you all a Merry Schizmas and a Happy Nu Year!

As we begin to wind down to open our gifts, indulge in ALL OF THE CHEESE, and binge-watch terrible Christmas movies, we're preserving all of our energy for the best Christmas present of all, and that's seeing all of your beautiful faces one last time before we roll our cheese-filled selves into 2025!

This Friday we're doing our last event of 2024 at A̵l̵l̵ Alt Bar One in Guildford in the form of a (Not) Nu Years Party. You can expect plenty of Nu Metal to get your neck limbered up, and some Nu Cheer for ten randomly selected lucky members who pre-book their ticket.

However, it won't be long before you get to see us again. Next Friday at Facebar Reading we're leaning heavily into Simpsons meme territory by labeling our annual UV party as 'A Rocker Borealis'. We can't promise you any steamed hams, but we can promise an unforgettable l̵u̵n̵c̵h̵e̵o̵n̵ evening full of vibrant colours in one of the coldest and darkest months of the year, and lots of tempo heavy tracks to stimulate your auditory senses!

As I sit here writing up details for our next two events, I find myself thinking forward to the latter part of the year and some of the milestones I and Schism are facing.

Firstly, September marks not only our first anniversary of putting on Schism in Reading, but also a big milestone birthday for myself (I'm turning 30 again, obviously), and it will also be 12 years since I first started out as DJ for the club. When I reflected on this, it made me aware that I've nearly been a DJ for Schism for as long as Alan J Chapman was when he left us, and then when I reflected on this further, I realised it will be 10 years since his passing this December. With this in mind, whilst I know December isn't traditionally one of our biggest months in the calendar (clearly people are still recovering from Halloween as they hibernate), I would love to put on a night that would make him proud, and I'm currently trying to think of how that looks.

Our December event in Reading falls the day before Beat:Cancer Vs COFM Reading Ft Grab Your Face, Matt Hart, Red Meat, Paresis, Dj Gillywoo & Kohl in the same venue, and I know from my time talking to Alan, that he would have appreciated seeing what the BEAT:CANCER crew do with each of their events in the goth scene, so my first request to anyone seeing this is, if you can make a weekend of it and attend both events, then please do!

For now, I will be mulling away in the background thinking of new and intuitive ways to ensure Schismites always have a great night to experience, wherever we are and whatever events we hold.
