Ahead of the forecasted rain and winds tomorrow morningā€¦ā€¦

Often during rain storms and after heavy deluges of rainā€¦.
Customers call me and tell me that their TV has stopped working or the picture on the Tv is breaking up/ Pixelating.
I tell them there is probably water ingress into the aerial or a splitter or maybe a coax cable is breaking down.
Below is a photo of an aerial that I took down a couple of days ago which looks perfect at first sight, especially from ground level.

I estimate this aerial is between 5 and 12 years old. It is what most people describe as a digital aerial but it is actually a wide band aerial to pick up all of the frequencies.
Look how much water has got into the dipole and in turn gravity fed into the outdoor splitter which was in a waterproof casing.
This caused all three TVs in the house to stop working.

We are pleased to tell you that
A B Aerials & Satellites have never fitted one of these aerials they are made by a company called ā€œAntiferenceā€
And the manufacturer has now discontinued this model.

Just a little insight into why your TV picture could be breaking up during bad weather.

Another aerial installation this week with bird protection spikes.
I can guarantee birds will not sit on your aerial again!

Itā€™s that time of the year, when the birds have started nesting again & roosting on your aerials.

Please note the spikes donā€™t hurt the birds at allļæ¼ they just deter them from roosting on the aerial...... Leaving there bird mess on your expensive car / newly laid drive etc.

The customer was complaining that she wasnā€™t receiving all of the channels. It turns out she was receiving less than 40 channels !
Of the 176 available including radio. New aerial fitted now and the customer is receiving all of the channels including the HD channels.

During the recent downpours, Iā€™ve had a few telephone calls saying the TV has stopped working. My answer is normally always the same. There is probably water leaking into your aerial.
The customer normally replies well weā€™ve looked up at it and it looks fine. Below is a picture of an aerial I took down today.
This aerial wasnā€™t very old, but at the same time it wasnā€™t a very good quality aerial. Made by ā€œTriaxā€ I guesstimate it was fitted between 2009-2012.
All of our new aerials come with a 10 year guarantee.
And I can guarantee they wonā€™t suffer water ingress like this.
