Namji Launches Not-for-Profit Desi Cafe in Milton Keynes, Pledges to Serve Delicious Indian Food to All
MILTON KEYNES, UK β June 11, 2023 β Namji, an award-winning Indian restaurant, has proudly announced the opening of their not-for-profit Namji Desi Cafe in the heart of Milton Keynes. The cafe, run by community champion Naseem Khan, will serve popular Punjabi street food seven days a week, offering a variety of vegan and vegetarian optionsβ!.
Naseem Khan, a restaurateur renowned for her philanthropic efforts and her love for Punjabi cuisine, has been serving the community of Milton Keynes for the past decade. Her efforts have included donating hundreds of hot meals to families and individuals in need every week, an initiative that has been a lifeline to manyβ.
The new cafe embodies the ethos of giving back, a philosophy deeply ingrained in the operations of Namji. Naseem Khan has been quoted saying, "It is about giving back to Milton Keynes.
"I want a place where every diner can sit down to enjoy their food without question. Having a hot meal is a basic human right - no one, least of all a child, should sleep on an empty stomach." She also mentioned her motivation stems from her religion that teaches charity and kindnessβ.
Namji, which has been recognised with multiple awards, including the MKFM 2019 for 'The Best Indian Curry in MK', and the Circus Independent Food awards 2020 for 'Favourite Indian Restaurant', is taking community service a step further with the launch of the Desi Cafe. For three consecutive years, the restaurant has received 'Awards of Excellence' from TripAdvisor and has also been awarded the Travellers Choice 2020, placing Namji in the top 10% of hospitality businesses around the globeβ.
The Desi Cafe will allow diners to donate a 'suspended meal' to provide a hot meal for a homeless person. The cafe also promises to provide work experience opportunities for people to enhance their skills and gain confidenceβ.
Continuing her legacy of community service, Naseem Khan has ensured that the profits from the Desi Cafe will be channelled back into the community, supporting various projects including homelessness initiatives and women's educationβ.
In addition to the new cafe, Naseem Khan also runs a charity organisation, Give Back 2U UK. The charity empowers women and provides hundreds of meals every week to homeless and vulnerable adults. Namji remains the only restaurant in Milton Keynes with a Soup Kitchen, a facility Naseem established in 2020 to support struggling families during the pandemicβ.
The Desi Cafe is a testament to Namji's commitment to community service and culinary excellence. Naseem Khan's vision is for the cafe to be a place for everyone to feel at home and enjoy affordable, nutritious food.
