🎉 AWARD WINNERS... AGAIN! 🎉

Yesterday we received the incredible news that we have been chosen as this year's winners of the Radio Station of the year award in the East Midlands at the Central England Prestige Awards 2024/2025 🥳

We were chosen as the winners because our passion for what we do really comes across, and the judges were impressed with our personal touch and community feel.

We are absolutely over the moon to have been selected as the winners of yet another award. We are incredibly passionate about our community and love doing what we do - which is to serve you (our listeners) and provide an alternative radio listening experience. We dedicate hours of volunteering to ensure we provide the best service possible and always try to reach as many of our local residents in the community as possible.

We aren't pros - but we try our best!

Our Managing Director (John Steemson) had the following to say;
"I can't express how much winning this award means to me and my team. It's incredibly difficult to know when you're sitting in a room by yourself in front of a microphone, if anybody is enjoying what they're listening to. All we get is stats at the end of the month, and as a fellow presenter, much like our other volunteers at Crags, it's sometimes nice to know that what we're doing is appreciated. This award has given us the push we needed to make sure we head into 2025 with more passion and determination to remain the best community radio station possible."

In a last attempt to raise some money to keep Crags Radio on-air, we are doing a non-stop 24-hour broadcast this coming Saturday from 12pm. We have an array of Crags presenters teaming together to try and raise as much money as possible. I beg that anyone who enjoys Crags to make a donation before it's too late. I have given this station my all for the past 5 years and I would hate for it to have all been for nothing. Funding has become so tough to secure and with the rising business costs, it's been a tough year financially. We need this more than ever right now 🧡

I'll be doing a 2 hour Dance Anthems slot from 8pm on Saturday and would love as many of you as possible to tune in.

It is with deep sadness, that from as of today I will be reducing the amount of bookings I do going forwards.

Unfortunately my health has gotten the best of me lately and each time after every gig, I feel it more than ever. The pain I go through after a night of celebrating sadly outweighs the enjoyment of making sure people have the best night possible. The pain I experience in my legs and feet particularly is the worst and now it takes me days to start feeling comfortable/normal after a night of DJ'ing.

I want to thank everyone who has entrusted me over these past 4 years to celebrate their occasion with them. I've met some amazing people along the way and made some great memories. I will be forever grateful so thank you! It's been truly amazing to share your special occasions with you from weddings, birthdays, school discos and more!

I want to ensure anyone who has already booked with me for a date in the future will still go ahead as planned. I won't let any confirmed bookings down, but going forwards I won't be taking a booking every weekend nor will I be doing back-to-back parties. I will happily recommend someone else if in an instance I cannot do your date.

Thank you for your understanding and remember to always look after yourselves. Thank you and goodnight.

If you don't know by now, I am working on a new project to start up my own community music shop café called "Fluffy's". This is something I hope will become profitable and provides a steady stream of income for me moving forward but also becomes a place for the Creswell community to enjoy and spend their time.

The plan is to serve fresh coffees and donuts whilst selling new and used CD's, Books, DVD's, Video Games etc... as well as becoming the community hub for live music, training & skill building sessions, hobby clubs and more! I will be looking to host events to help tackle social isolation, mental health and anti-social behaviour amongst others. I am also planning to have a kids play area and a tea garden during the Summer months as we look to expand.

So you can see my vision, I have worked with a designer to knock me up some drawings for you all to see. Below is an image of what is Crags Radio's massively underutilized meeting and training room. Then there is a drawing concept of what I intend the space to look like once opened up as a café and music shop. Looks amazing doesn't it! 😍

Now I've heavily invested a lot of money personally already in this project and unfortunately won't be able to stretch enough to be able to do everything I need so I can open. So I've cheekily setup a crowdfunder, hoping that my friends and family would help by donating a few pennies towards this dream of mine. £285 RAISED SO FAR 😍

Thank-you to everyone who has donated to the Fluffy's - Donuts, Coffees and Music Shop Café crowdfunder. We've had £285 of donations so far and I'm extremely grateful for the amount of support from you so far, it truly does mean a lot ❤️

We are however only at 8% of the target amount needed to get this project off the ground and I'm extremely cautious that there is only 29 days left on the crowdfunder 😢

If you can spare just a few £££ to get this community music shop café off the ground, I will personally give you a massive snog 😚 (tongues are optional 😉).

This won't be your bog standard café serving Donuts and freshly ground coffee, aswell as selling second hand music, films, books and video games... no no no! We'll be hosting a variety of events such as live music, psychic readings, hobby clubs and so much more! Located within Crags Radio's Media Centre, We'll be teaming up with the station to host their Open Day's aswell as facilitating training sessions for the local residents to attend.

We'll have also have a kids play area and will eventually be opening up a tea garden ready for the Summer next year.

The funds raised through the crowdfunder will go towards renovations, furniture and equipment needed to create the perfect home away from home.
