My horsey journey…
Horses have always been a giant part of my life. It started when i was 5 at a local riding school, riding an old little Shetland named Sarah. After some time there learning the basics, I met the wonderful Maria from Cranleigh Riding for the Disabled Association who brought my riding journey to life. Years with her taught me from a young age how to ride and care for horses properly, and we did this for years every Sunday without fail (thanks Mum for making all those journeys!). My experience properly started with the naughty little welsh pony, Blue, who I still think about most days!
Due to life changes I wasn’t able to travel anymore and I met a wonderful neighbour with a Welsh pony who I helped to look after a long time. I was unable to ride him, however my passion for horses was so far beyond riding I simply just loved to be around horses.
Whilst at uni I became a groom to earn a bit of money, which is where my passion for equine welfare began. I met 3 wonderful thoroughbreds, managed to do some riding again, and started learning how to train horses with nothing but respect.
As with a lot of grooms, I wasn’t treated very well, and a client gave me the idea of dressage music, which is where Dressagio began!
In 2023 I worked for a few weeks at the lovely Moorcroft Equine Rehabilitation Centre , learned so much about equine biomechanics and got to experience rehabilitation first hand. Due to having a full time job I haven’t been able to return yet but plan on doing so and hosting fundraisers when Dressagio grows!
Now here we are - horses haven’t been hugely accessible to me which is a massive shame, however I get to see my clients perform wonderful routines to my music, and I go and see my friend’s pony every so often for a groom and some cuddles.
Dressagio has never been about business, money or success. It’s always been about a strong, genuine passion for horses for soon to be two decades. Being involved in riders’ success stories, watching their horses flourish with the right music, helping children at pony clubs have immense fun with some great soundtracks is what keeps Dressagio alive.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported Dressagio so far - I cannot wait for the future💜💜
