This coming Saturday is Virtual Open Day at Greater Brighton MET, where you can talk to tutors and students about studying for degrees in Music Production Music Performance and Music Business. Our studios have been safely open with distancing and cleaning since September and students have been making music very happily. The very few cases of COViD have been carefully managed and no cases been transmitted on campus. Even those who have been ill were able if they felt up to it, to study online. On Saturday, we'll be presenting some of the exciting projects and jobs that our graduates go on to - sometimes after graduation, sometimes before. The Live Music part of the industry has taken a proper spanking from COViD19, and sadly many people have had to vacate some wonderful jobs to do non-live music work keep food on their tables. However, music people are creative people, and they are discovering all kinds of clever ways to keep the light on while we wait for a much hoped-for return to events, such as live streaming (for which people are actually buying tickets across the world). We've been researching and studying and experimenting at the former Northbrook with some incredible ex-student creatives from as far as Brazil and this week, Australia to discover ways of staying productive and building back careers in Music. It is coming back, and we are now smarter and tougher. If you'd like to study your Music Degree at GBMET alongside a great group of talented, curious, ambitious adults (18 upwards), book a place on https://www.gbmc.ac.uk/virtual-open-events for next Saturday. See you there.
