Burlesque the Musical is back, and it's BIG!! Audiences loved its West End run at the Savoy Theatre in 2025, and now it's here for an extensive UK Tour!!

Starring Gracie O'Brien in her professional debut as Ali, Faye Brookes as Tess and Ryan Carter as Sean, the show tunes are epic, and its Fosse-inspired choreography honours the art of neo-burlesque in such a fabulous way. You can read my ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review via the Jackstage site! 💜

"Sting's musical voyage in need of tighter dramatic architecture"

Composed by and starring Sting, The Last Ship is inspired by his childhood experience in Wallsend, as a community face the disappearance of their shipyard. On one of London's biggest stages (until 3rd October), this giant musical venture is powerful in ensemble and design, though it needs to let the voices of the people to be heard beyond the music.

If you follow theatre news, you'll know that Burlesque the Musical has hit the headlines on a number of occasions, with backstage dramas and cancelled London productions. Regardless of this, based on the 2010 film and its 2025 West End production at the Savoy Theatre, the show's creative standard is a fabulous tribute to the art of neo-burlesque, which grows in confidence.

Opening last night in Leeds Playhouse's Courtyard space, Headlong return to revive Fences, a mighty modern piece of American literature. Ray Fearon and Madeline Appiah lead an established cast of the highest acting quality, as we follow the collapse and regrowth of the Maxson family in 1950s Pittsburgh.

On Saturday night, I went to see Annie The Musical UK at Hull New Theatre (Hull Theatres), and it was one of the most heartwarming musicals I have ever seen!! 🥹🧩

Playing for only ten performances at London's Charing Cross Theatre, this uniquely intimate double bill of opera The Seven Deadly Sins (Weill/Brecht) and The Human Voice (Poulenc/Cocteau) is a treat in vocal performance. But where the writing is heavy on symbolism, audiences may struggle to emotionally connect.
