IMPORTANT NOTICE PLEASE READ AND SHARE TO SPREAD THE WORD.

Due to the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow we have sadly decided to cancel tomorrow’s event.

This was a hard decision to make but made in the best interests of safety and comfort for all involved, due to this being an outdoor music and family event with a live band, electrical equipment and no real way of ample provision for shelter on the amphitheatre bank.

We are so sorry if you were planning to attend and have made plans or travelled.

We really hope to raise money for the friends - so if you are still able to contribute any amount you can spare, both us and the volunteers would be most grateful!

Friday 8th May is our next scheduled Crescent Club Night.

It’s the first-ever ¡Tropica! Live Room Takeover at The Crescent! The 250-capacity venue with a great atmosphere is playing host to a key figure from the world music scene when Andy Kershaw joins us on the decks for one his legendary DJ sets.

¡Tropica! DJ Crew will be in the house with all the beats from global streets to get the party going. We’ve secured a one o’clock licence too, so don’t set the alarm for Saturday.

From Monday 13th January 2020 DrummieDave will be presenting a fortnightly radio show - Compass Points - broadcasting from 8pm - 10pm on the brand-new Jorvik Community Radio across York and surrounding areas on 94.8FM, via the TuneIn app & at the Jorvik Radio web site. This programme will feature a broader musical and stylistic mix than the live show.

The first edition of Compass Points was broadcast on Boxing Day 2019 and is now archived on a new Mixcloud page. Future programmes will be archived at this page.

Alternating with Compass Points is another member of the ¡Tropica! Crew - Lu aka Ms Fabulous - Lu’s Lucky Dip will alternate fortnightly with Compass Points. Next Compass Points broadcast will be Monday 9th March.

...and ¡Tropica!’s very own J B-H (UpsideYourMind) is already established with his excellent programme All Forms, which airs on Jorvik Radio every Tuesday evening from 9pm - 11pm. This is also available after broadcast via Jon’s Mixcloud page.
