⛪️ It Started as a Religious Chapel; Now It Is a Very Different Chamber!
There are times when one needs a Professor of History to really explain a very complex subject. We were very lucky in November to welcome Dr John Cooper to our Forest of Galtres Society meeting and his presentation was such an excellent story – and particularly relevant when the chamber has been very much in the news subsequently! What we heard about is the House of Commons. What we did not know was its former life and Dr Cooper, Professor of History at the University of York, explained that to us so well.
There has been a Budget speech there in November. There are debates there, and it is very hard to understand why parliamentary debates occur in this particular building.
