Celebrate Yorkshire Day the right way!

This official civic celebration is all about how proud we are to be Yorkshire! The reason we celebrate on the 1st August is that this is the anniversary of the Battle of Minden and the wearing of roses in the headdress on that day.

The Flying Scotsman returns to the NorthYorkshire Moors Railway this autumn!

This iconic locomotive No. 60103 Scotsman is scheduled to run a series of special services throughout October and November 2025! Rail enthusiasts, families and history lovers can book their seats on this once in a lifetime experience, enjoying a
rather nostalgic return journey between Grosmont and Pickering.

Built in 1923, this was the first UK steam locomotive to officially reach 100mph. A symbol of British Railway engineering!

🌿 Happening Today – Community in Action at Fulford Cemetery 💪

We’re proud to be at Fulford Cemetery today alongside an incredible team of volunteers, all coming together to restore and clear this important space for local families. 💚

The day has been organised by the amazing The Fortus Foundation, the cemetery was becoming so overgrown that many families could no longer access their loved ones’ graves. 💔

Volunteers from across York – including teams from Rudding Park, Clucking Oinks, First York, Menfulness, and us at Your Local Link Magazine – have turned up with strimmers, brushes, mowers and pure determination to help make a difference. 🧹🌱

It’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when the community pulls together. 👏
