A new chapter for Forge. 🌿

We’re very excited to finally introduce That’s What She Said, our first book beyond the pages of Forge Zine.

Created with the That’s What She Said Collective, this feminist poetry collection brings together work by women and non-binary writers, exploring gender, identity, bodies, relationships, anger, vulnerability and the experiences that too often go unspoken.

All profits from the collection will be donated to Refuge.

And there’s more to come. On Saturday 12 September, That’s What She Said returns to The Cardigan Arms in Leeds for an afternoon of feminist literature, poetry and performance, raising funds for Refuge.

Pre-orders for the collection are now open via the Forge Press website.

Our first book. A new chapter for Forge. 💚

Elle and I have made a habit of walking from Bootham to Museum Gardens over the last year and sitting in the edible garden, surrounded by birdsong, somewhere many people in York still haven’t discovered. Most Forge decisions have probably been made on one of those benches. In fact, the idea for Forge Walks was born during one of these walks last year.

A few months ago, we also hosted a writing session for writers and editors interested in working towards publication, and we loved creating a space where people could work, write and achieve creative goals together. It quickly became its own series: Forge Writes. So we thought — why not bring the two together?

And yes, one of the nation’s favourite hobbies is complaining about the weather… especially now the cold has returned. So wrap up in your warmest coat and join us this Friday at 5pm in Museum Gardens ✨

If we’re lucky, maybe the evening sun will be enough to warm our faces too.

There’ll be space for conversation, writing, questions about submissions, and getting inspired for MIRAGE together.
