After nearly 30 years our doors closed last night.

We have decided it's time for us as a family to go in a new direction with The Jammo. We are so grateful to have had the chance to meet so many talented, passionate people and it has been an honour especially to see the young people who have passed through the Jammo doors go on to great things. We hope we've brought our own magic to the music scene here in York over the years. A massive thank you to all the customers who have supported us (and anyone who ever helped clear up after a party), it wouldn't have been possible without you. It's been a brilliant time and we've loved it all.

We are not going anywhere!

Access To Music, our tenants are leaving but we were providing rehearsal and recording space before they came and will continue when they are gone.

We send our best wishes and good vibes to all the staff and students we have had over the years.

We are happy to support the Access To Music farewell gig and will be at The Fulford Arms this Wednesday to watch them go out in style!

Then the real work starts for us, we will be ramping up the rehearsal and recording side of the
business and improving the building ready for our new tenants, Tang Hall Smart, who will be here during weekdays from September.

We would like to reassure our adoring public that rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated 😂 The Jam Factory is not closing. We are saying a sad goodbye at the end of this academic year to our long-standing tenants Access to Music, who have occupied the space as a FE college for the best part of 2 decades. However, as one door closes another opens and we will be welcoming the wonderful Tang Hall Smart crew and their students next year. We will remain as rehearsal and recording rooms for hopefully many years yet!

******IMPORTANT NEWS********🚘🚗🚙🎹🎤🎸
York Council are starting a traffic trial in the groves from the 2nd of September. This will affect which roads you can use to access us.
There will no longer be a way to ‘get through’ The groves and all main streets (Lowther and Penleys grove st) will be blocked. The good news is that for the first time in 30 years you will actually be able to get to us down Eldon Street! The bollards are going!!! However you will only be able to get here from Haxby road. There will be no access from Huntington road or Park Grove. Here’s a confusing map to wrap your heads round 🤯😭🤣 we are the blue circle. GOD SPEED MUSICIANS, May the best Sat Nav win 🙌🏻

Hello folks, we hope everyone is doing ok under the current circumstances, we are disconcertingly quiet here for the first time in 20 years but we are taking this opportunity to spruce things up! We’re also looking into when we can re open safely and how that will look in terms of practices, as soon as we have our rules and colourful tape down we will let you all know. In the mean time, please continue to annoy your neighbours and loved ones by ‘keeping your hand in’ musically at home 😂🎸🎤

🎸🎸VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🎸🎸
Are you a human with musical and social skills?

Do you need to improve your CV or does the idea of working with talented youngsters sound like your cup of tea? Maybe you want to move into education and need some experience?

Our Sunday group runs 10am-12pm every week and needs lovely, chilled out folk to jam with our under 16’s and help out with equipment and encouragement.

DBS check a bonus but one will be provided if not.

Did you know, as well as our usual rehearsal rooms (atveryreasonablepricesandsuperfunkyetc) we ALSO provide rehearsal space for under 16’s with DBS checked supervisor. Every Sunday from 12-2 £7 per person and no one will tell you to give it a rest or turn it down a bit 😂👵🏻
