Lapwing Collectibles

Lapwing Collectibles Hello! I'm a collector and small-time seller of glorious glass paperweights through a lovely antiques centre in York.

I set up the Lapwing Collectibles page to show off my collection, promote my side hustle and connect with other collectors.

Magical paperweight cursed my camera!

Try as I might, I couldn't do full justice to this intriguing paperweight made at Selkirk Glass in 1981 by Peter Holmes. So I made a slightly silly reel instead 😆

The certificate of authenticity reads "Merlin Sky (cauldron) The enchanted world of the ancient wizard Merlin is conjured up by the artist, against the blackness of the night sky".

Cauldron was part of a magic themed series that included Wizard's Eye.

True vintage Scottish glass - Vasart Glass

I adore these quirky, vibrant, artisanal seeming paperweights with their distinctive ground bases, produced by the Ysart family during the Vasart period.

While Paul Ysart pursued his career in other directions, Salvador and his other sons left Moncrieff to found Ysart Brothers in Perth, renaming the company Vasart in 1956. Vasart eventually evolving into Strathearn Glass in 1965.

Vintage Scottish millefiori from Caithness Glass

Pretty, purple, Spring Meadow was made at Caithness Glass, Scotland, during a brief period when they supplied Edinburgh Crystal with their superior quality paperweights.

18 designs with an "E" cane were produced in 1986 and 1987 only.

Have you set yourself the challenge of collecting the whole set?

POV: that vintage and antique shopping "Found it!" feeling

Scanning the shelves or peering in a shop window... it suddenly stands out! Your heart flutters, mouth goes dry. Is it what you think it is? Do they know what they have? Can you afford it?

Do you get that feeling when you spot something thrifting or antiquing? What's your best find?

Atmospheric Scottish art glass

Twilight, made in 1997 at Selkirk Glass has all the components that explain why this Scottish maker's work is still so collectable.

Sparkling clear glass encases clean vivid colours in an abstract design that shows such skill ❤️
