ALLEGRA OPEN EVENING SUCCESS

A very successful open evening was held by Newport's female voice choir, Allegra, whereby newcomers were assigned a buddy for the evening and joined in learning new songs for the choir's Christmas repertoire. Potential new member Caz said: "I was blown away by the high standard of the singing from the outset of learning a song - it's no wonder Allegra have won so many awards. It was a fun and friendly atmosphere at the open evening. I've never performed before so it was great to discover that you don't need experience and you don't need to read music, as someone is always there to guide you. I learned such a lot in just one evening and I'm already hooked - I can't wait for the next rehearsal!"

Dee Thomas, Chair of Allegra, said: "This event was designed to bring together our vibrant choir community with potential new members in a relaxed and supportive environment. However if you'd like to join us, you don't have to wait for the next open evening. You are welcome to email us on [email protected] or just drop in to one of our rehearsals at 7.30pm every Wednesday evening in St Julian's Baptist Church, Beaufort Road, Newport. Whether you are an experienced chorister or new to singing, we welcome all adult women who can sing in tune and you are assured of a warm welcome. For more information about Allegra, visit our website, www.allegraladieschoir.co.uk or check out our page for more information about our concerts and contests."

September 6th, 2025

I’m surrounded by nature - the rain is holding off as the sun plays peek-a-boo from behind the fluffy white clouds.

There is a glowing warmth in the air, as the wind sways the trees back and forth. The tall plants waving left to right as if saying goodbye to the summer and welcoming autumn.
🍂
Butterflies intertwine playfully — amongst the green grass and the dragon flies stop by momentarily before taking off once again in a blink of an eye.

A small plane flies overhead - I curiously wonder where is its destination. I suppose I will never know.

A day of reflection and appreciation of the world around me!

Are you aware of the Herbert Protocol?

It is sadly an inevitable part of Policing that we are sent to search for missing people, commonly they can be suffering with dementia and be lost and confused and unable to find their way home.

The Herbert Protocol is a risk reduction tool to help Police with their search. It is a form that carers, family or friends of a vulnerable person can fill in and contains a list of vital information Police need if the person goes missing. This includes things like a photograph, medication needed, favourite places, old addresses and places they have previously been found.

Keeping a completed form saves the worry of trying to recall the information during the stressful and upsetting time of somebody going missing. It saves time for Police and allows the search to start sooner.

To complete the form click here ➡️ https://orlo.uk/Jrd1l
