Media Release Anderson Peters Starts 2026 Diamond League Campaign with Rabat Victory, Turns Focus to Rome.

Grenada’s two-time world champion launches his 2026 international campaign with an 86.08m win in Morocco and prepares for his next Diamond League test in Italy on Thursday, June 4.

ST GEORGE’S, GRENADA - June 2, 2026 - Grenadian javelin athlete Anderson Peters has opened his 2026 Wanda Diamond League campaign in winning fashion, capturing the men’s javelin title in Rabat, Morocco with a best throw of 86.08 metres. The victory marked an encouraging start to the international season for the two-time World Athletics champion and Olympic bronze medalist, who remains one of the premier javelin throwers in the world.

Peters will next compete at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome, Italy on Thursday, June 4, where the men’s javelin is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. local time in Rome, which is 1:10 p.m. in Grenada. He is listed in the field for the Rome Diamond League as he continues his early-season push on one of track and field’s biggest global circuits.

The Rabat result offers a strong early signal for Peters’ 2026 campaign. Coming off another season in which he has continued to reinforce his place among the world’s elite, Peters enters Rome with momentum and with Grenadians once again following closely as he carries the nation’s flag onto the international stage. His World Athletics profile currently lists him at No. 4 in the world in the men’s javelin.

“Opening the season with a win is always a good feeling,” Peters said. “Rabat was a solid start, but the focus now is on continuing to build, staying consistent, and sharpening for the meets ahead. Every competition is an opportunity to grow, and I am proud to keep representing Grenada at this level.”

Peters continues to benefit from strong local and international brand support as he navigates another demanding global campaign. He is supported locally through his brand partnership with Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited and also serves as an Adidas ambassador, reflecting both the strength of his international profile and the value of sustained partnerships behind Grenadian sporting excellence.

As he prepares for Rome, Peters remains a proud son of the soil whose performances continue to inspire national pride and belief in Grenadian sport. With a winning start already secured in Rabat, attention now turns to Thursday’s competition in Rome, where Grenadians at home and abroad will once again be watching one of the nation’s finest athletes compete among the very best in the world.

Four-time Groovy Monarch and One-time Soca Monarch Shondell Dash Amada Hosts His First Major Soca Production "Amped".

On Saturday May 30th 2026,, Shondell 'Dash' Amada took a bold step by staging his first major Soca event, "Amped," at the National Cricket Stadium. The show, named after his dynamic persona on stage, featured an all-local cast and was widely advertised across various media outlets.

Despite Dash's reputation and a rich catalog of hit songs in both Groovy and Soca genres, the turnout was not as strong as expected. However, from the moment patrons entered through the VIP entrance, the energy was palpable. The décor was unique, and the food options were delicious, complemented by skillful bartenders mixing excellent drinks.

Some may say the venue was too large, but every journey starts somewhere. This event can serve as a foundation to build and improve future productions.

Although attendance was low, the show was impeccably executed. Dash performed with the enthusiasm of an artist before a packed stadium, and the band’s performance was spectacular. Those who attended truly enjoyed every moment.

Adding to the excitement, several of Dash's artist friends took to the stage in support, including Muddy, Boyzie Mr. Gold’N, Valene, Boyzie Lil Natty and Thunda, V’ghn, and Sakina Ambrose along with veteran J**S. Each brought their unique energy, underscoring the importance of appreciating local talent.

The takeaway is clear: Dash and his team now have the opportunity to reflect on "Amped" and plan strategically for 2027.

Supporting local talent in Grenada is crucial not just to gain recognition regionally or in the Diaspora, but to genuinely build pride in our own artists.

Let’s show our support to our local talent to build a thriving music community we can all celebrate.
