Four-time Groovy Monarch and One-time Soca Monarch Shondell Dash Amada Hosts His First Major Soca Production "Amped".
On Saturday May 30th 2026,, Shondell 'Dash' Amada took a bold step by staging his first major Soca event, "Amped," at the National Cricket Stadium. The show, named after his dynamic persona on stage, featured an all-local cast and was widely advertised across various media outlets.
Despite Dash's reputation and a rich catalog of hit songs in both Groovy and Soca genres, the turnout was not as strong as expected. However, from the moment patrons entered through the VIP entrance, the energy was palpable. The décor was unique, and the food options were delicious, complemented by skillful bartenders mixing excellent drinks.
Some may say the venue was too large, but every journey starts somewhere. This event can serve as a foundation to build and improve future productions.
Although attendance was low, the show was impeccably executed. Dash performed with the enthusiasm of an artist before a packed stadium, and the band’s performance was spectacular. Those who attended truly enjoyed every moment.
Adding to the excitement, several of Dash's artist friends took to the stage in support, including Muddy, Boyzie Mr. Gold’N, Valene, Boyzie Lil Natty and Thunda, V’ghn, and Sakina Ambrose along with veteran J**S. Each brought their unique energy, underscoring the importance of appreciating local talent.
The takeaway is clear: Dash and his team now have the opportunity to reflect on "Amped" and plan strategically for 2027.
Supporting local talent in Grenada is crucial not just to gain recognition regionally or in the Diaspora, but to genuinely build pride in our own artists.
Let’s show our support to our local talent to build a thriving music community we can all celebrate.
