IDA is accepting entries for its annual Documentary Awards!

Since 1984, the IDA Awards have honored a wide range of emerging and established voices in documentary, along with special recognitions such as the Courage Under Fire and Career Achievement Awards.

📸 No Other Land, directed by Close Up’s ‘20–’21 fellows Basel Adra , Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor, and Hamdan Ballal won the Pare Lorentz Award, Courage Under Fire Award, Best Feature Documentary, and Best Director at the 2024 IDA Awards.

Pathetic Monologues represents the other side of silence in this harsh times. It showcases pieces of my 3 month travel to Europe (more speificly Italy), also meeting some of the [sinner, s***m and gomora bringer disgusting] foreigners here in Georgia (some of them even Russian and Iranian, or Chinese, American, Mexican, Irish, Arab, Bulgarian, Egyptian, Dutch, Fin, German, Armenian, Ukrainean, you name it), my time within the wonderful festival called Caucasus Cinema and my short flashbacks from the protests, that I recorded on the camera. Kennedy's speech that I used in one of my shorts somehow struck me even stronger in this longer version. This year also marks my first ever visit to my Family Homeland - Racha after my 32 years of a mildly adventurous life, even though it was just for one day. Without much more chit-chat here is my sincerest film in this 9 year long career as a filmmaker. Radioactive Museum is a film about an Armenian journalist who is reporting from the imaginary "Radioactive Museum" in Kutaisi, Georgia. Gradually we realize he is a survivor of a certain event happening in this place, however his sanity and purpose of the reportage become questionable, resulting in death of the whole crew.
