A report by American Muslims for Palestine has revealed that Israel has arrested nearly one million Palestinians since 1967, averaging 47 arrests per day. The detainees include men, women, and children, many of whom have been held without trial or formal charges. The prison system, it says, plays a central role in maintaining Israeli control over Palestinian territories. As of the latest figures, 10,068 Palestinians are currently in Israeli jails. Among them, 3,190 are awaiting trial, 1,455 have been sentenced, and 3,577 are held under administrative detention without formal charges.
Following the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, the number of monthly arrests rose from 350 to 2,373. The report states that many of these arrests were made under strict legal frameworks and with external support, particularly from the United States.
