HISTORY LANE:
Xenophobic Attack in South Africa, what they should know
The late former President, Jerry John Rawlings, narrates how Ghana gifted Nelson Mandela during his era as President, $1 Million to support his foundation to practice Multi Party Democracy in South Africa.
Ghana played a huge role in South Africa's fight against apartheid. When Kwame Nkrumah led Ghana to independence in 1957, he turned Accra into a hub for anti-colonial movements, including South Africa's ANC and PAC.
These groups received financial, political, and military support from Ghana and used Accra as a base to build alliances and plan their struggle.
Ghana also as a UN member state push for sanctions and the isolation of apartheid South Africa. It helped pass key resolutions like UN Resolution 1514, on ending colonialism, and Resolution 1716, on arms embargoes against apartheid.
The 1958 All-African Peoplesβ Conference in Accra brought liberation groups together, giving South African activists a global platform.
Ghana gave South Africa's freedom fighters sanctuary, resources, and international legitimacy. The momentum that helped end apartheid in 1994 owes a lot to Nkrumah's efforts. Ghana showed that independence was possible β and stood with South Africa in their fight.
Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma the leader of the March & March Movement and her cartel must know that Ghana is officially hosting 3,194 South Africans... is it to say they haven't fixed their economy that's why they are here?
They should know that the Africans they are targeting together are the very people responsible for your liberation.
