🇪🇬 Trump, in response to a question about the Iranian leader: Good luck. 🇪🇬

Former US President Donald Trump has expressed strong views on the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, offering "Good luck" to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "keep going" with attacks on Tehran. Trump indicated that Washington's "patience has already run out," yet hinted at a potential settlement as "Iran wants to make a deal with us." These statements signal a turning point, with Trump emphasizing that "next week will be decisive" and reiterating that the US will not tolerate "threats of destruction." This developing situation raises questions about the future of US foreign policy in the Middle East.

🇳🇬 UK withdraws embassy staff families from Israel 🇳🇬

In a move reflecting heightened regional instability, the United Kingdom has announced the temporary withdrawal of family members of its diplomatic staff stationed in Israel. Britain's foreign ministry confirmed this precautionary measure on Wednesday, citing the continued exchange of fire between Iran and Israel as the reason. Crucially, the ministry stated that core diplomatic staff will remain at the UK embassy in Tel Aviv and the consulate in Jerusalem. This development highlights the ongoing security concerns in the region.

🇳🇬 796 babies feared buried in septic tank at Catholic-run home for u***d mothers 🇳🇬

BREAKING NEWS: Ireland: Excavation has commenced at the site of a former Catholic-run mother and baby home in Tuam, County Galway, where nearly 800 infant remains are believed to be buried. Operated by Bon Secours nuns from 1925 to 1961, the home housed unmarried mothers. Local historian Catherine Corless uncovered death certificates for 798 children but only one burial record, revealing a hidden tragedy. Earlier findings suggested infant remains were placed in a disused septic tank. The multi-year excavation seeks to identify the children and provide dignified reburials, shining a light on a painful chapter of institutional care in Ireland and the ongoing quest for justice and remembrance for the victims.

🇳🇬 BREAKING: US visa restrictions on ECOWAS countries threaten regional prosperity 🇳🇬

West Africa's top diplomat and ECOWAS Chair, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has voiced strong concerns over potential new US visa restrictions reportedly considering all member states. Speaking in Abuja today, Ambassador Tuggar warned these measures would act as significant barriers to trade, diplomacy, and regional prosperity, stifling crucial US-West Africa relations at a time of ripe economic and security opportunities. He described the potential policy as a "non-tariff barrier" and an economic missed opportunity, highlighting the region's resources and readiness for partnerships. The report also notes a potential wider US travel ban under consideration for countries including Nigeria and other African nations, linked to concerns over identity documents and government fraud cited in a memo. Tuggar urged Washington to re-evaluate its approach, emphasizing West Africa's potential and questioning who will seize opportunities if travel is restricted.

🇸🇳 International Day Against Hate Speech: Guterres advocates using AI as a "force for good" 🇸🇳

UN Secretary-General António Guterres calls for artificial intelligence to be used as a "force for good" rather than hate, marking the International Day Against Hate Speech on June 18. He highlighted that AI and digital platforms are amplifying hate speech "faster and further than ever before," embedding biases and creating spaces for harassment. Guterres urged global unity to combat hate speech which "poisons" society and has historically led to atrocities, disproportionately affecting minorities. He stressed the need for international cooperation, partnerships across all sectors, and countering toxic narratives with positive messages, referencing the Global Digital Compact and UN strategies. The article also noted Senegal's cybercrime law addresses threats and insults based on race, religion, etc., committed via computer systems with penal provisions.

🇪🇬 Researchers: Tattoos containing red ink cause lymphoma. 🇪🇬

New research warns tattoo enthusiasts to be cautious! A recent Swedish study from Lund University indicates a 21% higher risk of developing blood lymphoma for individuals with tattoos compared to those without. Experts highlight red ink as particularly concerning, as its pigments, potentially containing cadmium, mercury, or iron oxide, are linked to severe skin reactions and cancer. Tattoo ink is believed to trigger the immune system, causing inflammation that can lead to cancer. If you are considering a red tattoo, opting for ink containing naphthol is suggested. This vital information, reported on June 18, 2025, underscores the importance of public awareness regarding tattoo safety.

🇳🇬 Iran TV urges deletion of WhatsApp, raising fears of nationwide ban 🇳🇬

Amidst ongoing regional tensions, WhatsApp is expressing concern over potential service blocks in Iran. State broadcaster IRIB recently urged the public to delete the app, alleging it shares user data including location and communications with Israel. WhatsApp has strongly refuted these claims, stating messages are end-to-end encrypted and only accessible to sender and recipient. A spokesperson added they do not track precise locations, message content, or provide bulk data to any government, expressing worry that "false reports" could justify a block when connectivity is needed. Iran has implemented temporary internet restrictions and advised caution online during this period. WhatsApp faced blocks in Iran previously after protests in 2022.

🇬🇭 Three Ghanaians face extradition to US over $100 million fraud 🇬🇭

Three Ghanaian nationals, including an alleged cybercrime kingpin, are facing extradition to the United States in connection with a $100 million fraud scheme. The alleged scheme involved sophisticated Business Email Compromise BEC and romance scams targeting US entities and individuals between 2016 and 2023. The suspects were arrested on June 13 in a joint operation involving Interpol and the FBI. A fourth suspect is reportedly still at large.

The US Department of State requested their provisional arrest following a May 2023 indictment in a US court, charging the suspects with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Authorities allege the group used tactics like email spoofing to impersonate company officials and conducted romance scams targeting vulnerable individuals.

On June 16, 2025, a magistrate court in Accra remanded the three arrested individuals into police custody as extradition proceedings continue. This case underscores the growing efforts in international cooperation to tackle transnational cybercrime networks.
