The Inspiration Behind _Living Beyond The Mask_ – Costly*
One trend that has consumed today’s youth is the craze for living a double life — wearing a false identity to gain acceptance, both within Christendom and in secular society. In her thought-provoking book _Living Beyond The Mask_, Gifty Adzo Kotoka confronts this reality head-on.
The book was not written lightly. Miss Kotoka recounts personal experiences and the herculean challenges she had to overcome before she could capture the book’s message and subject matter. It came at a cost.
She makes a compelling point: many people have created a façade that society now celebrates as the norm. Sadly, this has crept into Christianity. Many believers today have substituted a genuine relationship with God for a public display of inclusiveness. In doing so, they hide behind a mask of deception and lose their true identity. According to _Living Beyond The Mask_, this attitude wounds not only Christians but anyone unwilling to face the diverse, often difficult, colors of life.
Across several chapters, Miss Kotoka urges readers to face life honestly, live within their means, and work hard to improve their circumstances. This, she argues, is the path to a fulfilled life.
The book was launched at the Headquarters of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and was graced by several distinguished guests. In attendance were Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenuson Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana; C.O.P Frimpong; Louis Blewusi; and Stephen Amedeka, among other eminent personalities.
