Naira Marley has finally spoken.For the first time, the Marlian Records CEO is sharing his truth about the tragic passing of his former signee, Mohbad.He addresses the accusations, the rumors... and why he believes he has been wrongly blamed, despite being cleared of all charges.
Naira Marley real name is Azeez Adeshina Fashola — is a British–Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper.He spent 17 years in the United Kingdom, where he built his name in music.But everything changed when he traveled to Nigeria to shoot his music videos. On his birthday, he was arrested — and to his surprise, the arrest only revealed how massive his fan base had grown in Nigeria. From that moment, he chose to stay in Nigeria... and pursue the dream of creating his own record label.
He introduced Mohbad to the world as a Marlian Records signee, showing conversations and dated evidence to back his claim.Mohbad — real name Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba — was a talented rapper, singer, and songwriter from Lagos. He later left the label in 2022.
According to Naira Marley, he once discovered that Mohbad had been introduced to a substance known as Ice. He claimed it was his first time hearing of the drug, and that he advised Mohbad against it
Later, Mohbad chose his own manager, Tunde. Naira Marley says he wasn’t upset about this.There were also rumors that Mohbad avoided hospitals, but Marley insisted he had proof showing that Mohbad did, in fact, seek medical treatment on several occasions
Naira Marley also opened up about their business. According to him, their agreement was straightforward — all expenses were transparent, and profits were shared 50–50.
Trouble began when the NDLEA arrested members of Marlian Records. Mohbad was also taken, and during the arrest, there was even a physical clash.While Naira Marley was on his way to Nigeria to help, Mohbad went online... accusing his boss and the label of misconduct.
