President Mahama Sends Heartfelt Message to Donald Trump Over Texas Floods

President John Dramani Mahama has extended a heartfelt message of condolence to U.S. President Donald J. Trump following the devastating floods that swept through Central Texas on July 4, claiming the lives of at least 80 people and displacing thousands more.
In a letter dated July 8, President Mahama expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy, describing it as âheartbreaking.â He acknowledged the toll the disaster has taken on American families and communities, with specific mention of the hard-hit counties of Travis, Hays, and Williamson, where rescue efforts are still underway and many residents remain unaccounted for.
The letter, which was shared by Ghanaâs Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed the sympathy of the Ghanaian people, many of whom have been following the disaster closely through international news. Mahama wrote not only as a fellow head of state, but also as a father and citizen, visibly moved by the images of destruction and loss.
âGhana stands in full solidarity with the Government and people of the United States during this moment of grief and national mourning,â President Mahama stated, adding that Ghanaâs thoughts and prayers remain with the U.S. during this difficult time.
He commended President Trumpâs swift response to the emergency, including federal support for local agencies. Mahama also praised the tireless work of emergency responders, volunteers, and local authorities who, despite personal loss and trauma, continue to offer hope and relief to survivors.
