Bloomberg reports that Apple is developing its own large language model (LLM) to power on-device generative AI features in the iPhone 16 series. While Apple's AI features may not surpass those of its rivals, the way it implements the technology could still be a game changer, according to Bloomberg Apple commentator Mark Gurman. Samsung teased its upcoming smart ring at its Galaxy Unpacked launch event in January. Later on, the company also showcased the wearable at the Mobile World Congress in February.

The device will provide a "vitality score," which "collects data about physical and mental readiness to see how productive you can be," Pak said, according to CNBC.

He said the first iteration of the ring will have sensors to track data that wearers can access through the Samsung Health app.

At the Unpacked event, the company also announced some new features like My Vitality Score and Booster Card that are coming to the Samsung Health app. These features are designed to predict the users' physical and mental readiness by assessing their sleep, activity, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability. The upcoming Galaxy Ring is expected to measure these types of metrics.

Pak also mentioned that the wearable may also include an interactive cognitive alertness test that can help wearers understand if their score is accurate.

Samsung's Galaxy Ring will focus on sleep tracking. It is designed in a way that will be easy to wear while sleeping. Smart rings also offer longer battery life than smartwatches and fitness bands as they have a minimalist, screen-free design.
