"Your asset declaration is senseless," – says Vim Lady to President John Mahama.

Afia Pokua, widely known as Vim Lady, a media personality, has expressed strong criticism towards President John Dramani Mahama's recent asset declaration, labeling it as "useless" due to the lack of transparency.

According to her, the declaration is not publicly accessible, but rather confined to the relevant institution.

Vim Lady contended that the president should have taken the initiative to amend the existing law, allowing Ghanaians unfettered access to the records, thereby ensuring accountability and transparency in the ownership of properties by government officials.

In her comments on Okay FM, Vim Lady concurred with the sentiments of former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelewo, who had advocated for the public disclosure of asset declarations.

She emphasized that the declaration of assets by the president is futile without public disclosure, as it merely serves as a statement without providing any concrete details.

The declaration of assets by the president, as per Domelevo's assertion, is indeed useless, since it lacks transparency and doesn't allow citizens to scrutinize the specifics," she stated.

Vim Lady argued that the purpose of declaring assets is to provide an account of one's possessions, including the number of cars, houses, and other items, and that this information should be publicly accessible.

She drew a comparison with the United States, where asset declarations are made public, enabling citizens to monitor the records.

However, she noted that in Ghana, both major parties, the NPP and NDC, are disinclined to effect such a change, as it serves their interests.

Vim Lady's critique comes in the wake of President Mahama's public signing of the asset declaration on February 18, 2025. Furthermore, the president instructed all government appointees to declare theirassets by March 31, 2025.

The president warned that failure to comply with this directive would result in punitive measures.

This development has sparked a discussion about the need for greater transparency in asset declarations in Ghana.

Power outages (Dumsor) will continue until the end of the year. – IES Cautions.

Nana Amoasi VII, the Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), has cautioned that Ghana's current electricity shortages, commonly referred to as Dumsor, will persist until the conclusion of the year unless crucial issues in the energy industry are dealt with.

Concerns have arisen about the stability of the national power grid due to widespread reports of irregular power supply.

Nana Amoasi VII, speaking on Eyewitness News on February 21, 2025, highlighted that the crisis is due to inefficiencies in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), aging infrastructure, and financial limitations impacting key energy sector entities.

He stressed that Ghana's power generation capability is alarmingly low, frequently unable to meet the demands that are placed on it.

Moreover, he mentioned that power stations are frequently offline due to fuel shortages or necessary maintenance work, which adds pressure to electricity distribution.

The Executive Director emphasized the importance of the ECG improving its efficiency, optimizing revenue collection, and ensuring fair revenue distribution among all energy sector participants to address the current challenges.

He pointed out that until these inefficiencies in the ECG are resolved, Ghana will likely continue to face Dumsor until the end of the year.

The situation has been worsened by the government's failure to settle a $75 million debt owed to N-Gas Limited, a key gas supplier to Ghana through the West Africa Gas Pipeline.

John Jinapor, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, during a visit to the pipeline under maintenance, asked for public patience as the government works to resolve supply disruptions.

He highlighted the country's lack of reserve capacity as a significant factor contributing to the ongoing power issues.

Marriage is not valued, Jesus Christ would have lost his chance to enter heaven if he had decided to get married. – According to Prophet Kumchacha

Popular Ghanaian preacher, Prophet Nicholas Osei, famously known as Kumchacha, holds the view that marriage has no advantages.

He argues that if Jesus, the son of God, had gotten married during his time on Earth, he would have jeopardized his chance of going to heaven.

Kumchacha expressed these opinions in a discussion with Ghanaian content creator, Felix Adomako Mensah, also known as ZionFelix.

According to him, marriage generally provides minimal benefits and comes with many challenges.

He claimed that Jesus Christ, the world's redeemer, was aware of this, which is why he avoided involvement with women during his earthly life.

He declared, “If marriage was not a challenge, Jesus Christ would have married. If he had chosen to marry, he might not have made it to heaven—especially if his wife was difficult.”

Kumchacha mentioned that several successful men are facing difficulties in life because of their regrettable decision to marry a 'difficult' woman.

Akufo-Addo is the greatest President in Africa's history. – Kofi Akpaloo

Kofi Akpaloo, the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has stated that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the most exceptional African president in history.

During an interview, Kofi Akpaloo emphasized that Akufo-Addo's accomplishments in infrastructure and the development of human resources surpass those of any other African president.

In all of Africa, I have not encountered a president superior to Akufo-Addo regarding infrastructure and the development of human resources.

No leader in any of the 54 African nations. I am not claiming this without justification, but none of the most admirable African leaders has accomplished what Akufo-Addo has.

Kofi Akpaloo pointed out the programs implemented by Akufo-Addo for the benefit of Ghanaians.

Consider this Agenda 111 initiative he introduced - one hundred and eleven hospitals. Name one African president who has taken the step to accomplish such a remarkable feat.

Regarding the establishment of factories throughout the nation, observe the number of factories that are now off-limits by 20%. Look at our road network.

He also mentioned Akufo-Addo's contributions to education, particularly the promotion of Free SHS, STEM, and TVET education.

In terms of educational infrastructure, all boarding schools in Ghana have been enhanced with new beds, desks, and extra facilities in the classrooms.

The emphasis on STEM education and TVET programs all contribute to human development.

The Free SHS policy has enabled students to attend high school for free for eight consecutive years, with complimentary uniforms and meals.

A 10% increment in the wages of public workers is Unacceptable, Mahama can improve upon this. – Afenyo Markin

The opposition leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has condemned the government's 10 percent rise in basic pay as insufficient and not satisfactory.

During a session in Parliament on Friday, February 21, 2025, he argued that the raise did not meet expectations, noting that previous adjustments under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration had been more generous towards public sector employees.

He highlighted that in 2017, there was a 12.5 percent increase for public sector workers; in 2018, an 11 percent increase; in 2020, a 15 percent increase; in 2021, a 4 percent raise along with an interim premium of 15 percent.

Moreover, there was a 15 percent cost-of-living adjustment to the base salary in 2022; a 30 percent rise in 2023; and 2024, a 23 percent increase from January to June, followed by a 25 percent increase from July to December.

Comparatively, he criticized the recent modest 10 percent increment, calling for a reevaluation of the government's strategy, stressing that Ghanaian employees had higher expectations, particularly regarding the 24-hour Economy policy.

He highlighted the need for the leader of government business to take note and convey to the president that these were the benchmarks he inherited.

The average Ghanaian employee legitimately anticipates President Mahama to exceed this level. He emphasized the 10 percent raise is unsatisfactory.

The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) revealed a 10 percent elevation in Ghana's National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) for 2025, setting the new rate at GH¢19.97 following a meeting in Accra on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Bullgod set to take legal action against Shatta Wale once more – Ka Nsemtvgh

Shatta Wale's ex-manager, Bullgod, is gearing up to sue Shatta Wale once again as the reggae-dancehall artist supposedly did not comply with their settlement terms reached out of court.

Reportedly, Shatta Wale had promised to cover Bullgod's legal expenses and make a public apology as part of the agreement, both of which he has yet to carry out.

Despite efforts to privately resolve the issue, including interventions from industry personalities like VIP, Shatta Wale has failed to uphold his end of the deal.

Bullgod stressed that his decision to pursue legal action is not motivated by money but by a desire for responsibility.

He mentioned that their relationship has had its share of highs and lows, but clarified that regardless of their disputes, Shatta Wale will always be like a younger sibling to him.

With the lawsuit pending, Bullgod has taken formal measures to force Shatta Wale to comply with the settlement.

The legal dispute started when Shatta Wale claimed that Bullgod was implicated in the killing of Fennec Okyere, the former manager of Kwaw Kese.
