Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is gearing up to launch his political campaign on Monday, April 29, in preparation for the upcoming December general elections.

According to a press statement released by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for the Bawumia for President 2024 Campaign, Dr. Bawumia will kick off his campaign in the Eastern Region. Subsequently, he plans to traverse all sixteen regions of the country over the course of the next month.

Bawumia, according to the statement, will meet “a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, the clergy, the youth, traders, drivers, farmers, students and visit businesses, including marketplaces to interact with both traders and consumers” during the tour.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has affirmed his administration’s commitment to further investment in the power sector with the aim of enhancing electricity supply across the nation.

Addressing attendees at the commissioning ceremony of a 15-megawatt solar power plant in Kaleo, located in the Upper West Region, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that his government intends to introduce green energy policies in the near future.

These policies are designed to diminish reliance on thermal energy sources, thus promoting sustainable energy solutions.

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, a severe rainfall accompanied by powerful winds and high tides wreaked havoc along the coast, resulting in the destruction of around 25 canoes positioned near the sea defense constructed as part of the James Town Fishing Harbor project.

The affected fishermen, grappling with the aftermath of this devastating loss to their means of livelihood, are now earnestly appealing for government support to aid them in recovering from this setback.

This unfortunate event unfolded when the intense rainfall, coupled with forceful winds, created exceptionally high tides, which ultimately led to the destruction of numerous canoes stationed close to the sea defense structure.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has once again affirmed his unwavering position against the transfer of presidential power to his predecessor, John Dramani Mahama.

Addressing the chiefs and residents of Wa, President Akufo-Addo conveyed his appreciation for their continuous support throughout his tenure in office.

He conveyed to the paramount chief of the Waala traditional area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, his intention to return to the region alongside the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as his successor.

President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his resolve, emphasizing that he would not transfer power to John Dramani Mahama, whom he defeated and unseated from office in 2016.

The opposition National Democratic Congress will formally introduce Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman as the party’s running mate for the 2024 general elections today.

The announcement was made in a press statement issued by the National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, on Tuesday, April 16.

The event will be attended by former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer for the 2024 general election, along with members of the Functional Executive Committee and the Council of Elders of the party.

Renowned Nollywood actor, Pa Zulu Adigwe, has passed away.

The veteran actor, beloved in the industry, reportedly died on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

The news of his passing was shared by movie producer Stanley Nwoke, also known as Stanley Ontop, on his Instagram page.

The producer did not provide any details about the cause of Adigwe’s passing, simply stating, “I regret to announce the passing of a veteran actor. Late Mr Zulu Adigwe… what caused his death is yet to be known”.

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has expressed that the privatization of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is not the solution to resolving the recurring power outages in the country.

They argue that the recent increase in power outages is primarily due to the significant debts owed by the government to Independent Power Producers.
