Language: Music on Earth versus Heaven.
Revelation 7:9 – “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from EVERY nation, tribe, people and LANGUAGE , standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.”
1. Can language restrict worship? Who is worship music for?
2. What language has instrumental music?
3. When David played before Saul, what language did he use?
4. Why is there a representation of diverse languages in heaven? Why not just English? Why was the Bible written in different languages?
5. Who is our music aimed at? If we all do English songs what happens to those who don’t speak English well?
6. Has there ever been non English music hits in non Christian music?
7. Does God appreciate our diverse cultures?
Maybe the conversations about success in music ministry should be redefined. It should probably mirror Gods global perspective a little more?
It’s not only about awards or reach though these can be useful in Gods hands.
If we use human criteria alone for the creation and judgement of music ministry we may miss somethings as worship ministers?
Ofcourse as usual, lets the Holyspirit be the ultimate guide as we write, produce and share our music.
He is the one who called us so He may have some interest in His music. After all it’s about pleasing Him ultimately.
Ofcourse let’s not neglect the wisdom of those who have gone ahead of us. Let’s learn from them as well.
Let’s honor and love them And let’s trust God.
It’s His work. We are all His children trying to be more like Him. (Hopefully).
He is more concerned about our surrender than our song. If our hearts are right, our songs will be also.
Father God, use these “Music
Ministry” conversations to unit your levites.
Make us more like you. Cause us to see and hear like you intend. May it be about you more than public applause.
When our songs are played may YOU be the one who is “heard” and not us. May we reduce and you increase. Bless all those you’ve called to serve in the area of music. Use us Lord to create songs that bring healings, win souls and unites.
Give us embarrassing hearts of love so when the world sees us they see Love. May they see YOU when they see us. Amen.
