COURT ORDERS MAN TO PAY 'SIDECHICK' GHC40,000 FOR BREACHING PROMISE TO MARRY HER
The Court of Appeal in Kumasi has ordered a married man,Mr. Benjamin Yeboah Anokye to pay a fine to Priscilla Atsu for breaking a promise to marry her.
It is alleged that Mr. Benjamin Yeboah Anokye and Priscilla Atsu were in a relationship from 2011 to 2017 and produced a son. He is said to have relocated her Tamale to Kumasi. Priscilla claimed that Anokye gifted her a house for which she has performed customary thanksgiving ceremony. She also argued that he has promised to marry her.
However, Anokye denied her claims under the claim that he was already married under the Ordinance.
The court rejected his claims and ordered him to pay a sum of GH¢40,000 for breach of promise and GH¢25,000 for
reimbursement of money she spent on improving the property.
Is the Court's ruling satisfactory?
