Announced by the famous singer and producer Akon, the should have its first two phases finished by 2029.

While most community members regarded the rumors about the futuristic-cryptocurrency themed Akon City initially as somewhat sarcastic, Akon himself made it official after finalizing the agreement earlier this year.

The Senegalese-American star plans to establish the first city to run entirely on renewable energy and with his own digital currency – Akoin.

SIMBOX Fraudsters At NATCOM

SIMBOX fraud is an IT fraud that requires the use of SIM cards of various mobile operators to set up an illegal call system that deprives Government from collecting badly needed revenue.
During the previous APC regime, we saw robust NATCOM/Police investigations that led to the arrest and prosecution of several SIMBOX fraudsters within the country.
The arrest, detention and prosecution of the Manager of an Internet Cafe’ along Charles Street in Freetown, Beresford Heuist made headline news in several media outlets.
The owner of that cafe along Charles Street who was then an employee of Orange is now serving as the Deputy Director of Engineering at NATCOM.
While he was a contract staff at Orange, Desmond Macfoy allegedly engaged in various dubious activities including SIMBOX fraud that led to his arrest by the Cyber Unit of the Sierra Leone Police.
Reliable sources have explained how some senior staff members of the Engineering Department at NATCOM would locate areas where SIMBOX fraud takes place but they would pay blind eyes after their palms had been oiled.
The Director of Engineering at NATCOM, Abdul Bah and Melvin King have been placed under media radar after it was alleged that they are helping criminals to set up SIMBOXES and even giving them tip offs whenever the Cyber Unit of NATCOM in collaboration with the Police embarks on a raid to arrest those economic saboteurs.
Further information reaching this press indicates that the present Director General of NATCOM, Daniel Kaitibie knows about this flourishing criminal enterprise going on at NATCOM but he is either unable or unwilling to take action against the perpetrators.
Many people have called on DG Daniel Kaitibie to act fast in order to end this nefarious practice going on at the Commission he now leads.
Investigations continue.
