🌿📽️ 🎨 Following the kickoff of the Green Film Festival, Accra, participants immersed themselves in two transformative Masterclasses that emphasized the power of storytelling through photography and film.
Karl Ziegler () session assisted by highlighted how photography can document the harmony of nature to show what’s at stake—not just what’s being lost—and how images can serve as evidence of the gradual depletion of the green. Photography, he emphasized, should be a medium for soft advocacy, bearing witness to the shared challenges and beauty of our planet.
Theo de Rosé () guided participants through the realities of filmmaking, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and hands-on practice. He encouraged attendees to document, preserve, and tell stories that move beyond awareness into understanding, emphasizing that climate photography and film are not just about beauty but about bearing witness to critical environmental truths.
Both Masterclasses reinforced the idea that storytelling—whether through the lens of a camera or a film reel—has the power to inspire action, advocate for sustainability, and preserve the stories of our planet. Attendees left inspired to use their craft to catalyze change and amplify the call for climate action.
🎥 Key Lessons in Storytelling and Photography
🎥 A good storyteller sees the unseen and captures what others overlook.
🎥 Photographs should provoke thought, inspire dialogue, and show the beauty worth saving.
🎥 Every frame should evoke a sense of responsibility and a quiet urgency for change.
🎥 Photography for climate action is about taking a stand without saying a word.
🎥 The camera doesn’t lie, so use it to tell the story of truth in every forest, river, and mountain.
